Although having just recently opened their first store in the bustling Bangsar Village 2, local fashion design collective ThirtyFour already has garnered a cult following amongst the fashion conscious. Comprising a background in jewellery and furniture design, cousins Linda and Shuennkee Chong incorporate elements from both design practices to create their very own brand of leather accessories that can be best described as grown-up edgy.
Drawing inspiration from “everywhere and anywhere, all the time”, the designing duo had been talking about starting their own design house for some time before deciding to go ahead with it. They decided to work with leather and metals seeing as Shuennkee already had 13 years of experience with working with them.
Playing up the versatility of the materials, ThirtyFour features excellently crafted products in a variety of different leathers like calf and lambskin that come with metal hardware. Producing everything from wallets and bags as well as small leather goods like cuffs, headbands and belts, ThirtyFour pieces are smart while retaining an edge.
Bathed in warm yellow lights, the store’s interior is similarly modern and sleek with pops of colour lining the showcases. Be sure to watch out for men’s accessories, stone jewellery and ThirtyFour’s new range of bags complete with a suede lining that are currently in the works.
