It’s sales season, and what better way to spend Raya prep than with great deals! The girls at the office grabbed hold of our friend, Annatasha, to do a little shopping of our own. Though we quickly snagged open house outfits, pairing them with the perfect, most complementary accessories was no easy task! Take a look at the pieces we thought were essential to everyone’s Raya wardrobe, and what the simplest of accessories could do for them.
BAJU KURUNG (EMBROIDERED OR EMBELLISHED)
Pastel colours are among the few trends that are in this Raya season, and we liked this baby blue kurung with an embroidered floral over layer (RM420, Emel by Melinda Looi at Parksons) best. Throw on a pair of dainty pearl earrings and a box clutch (RM129.90, Park Avenue at Parksons) to match. We also added a chunky, blinged-out (but still oh-so-glam) statement necklace to give backbone to the look, so the delicate overall look wouldn’t fall flat.
BAJU KURUNG (PRINTED)
For those of you who have something a little less dainty and feminine in mind, this printed kurung (RM420, Emel by Melinda Looi at Parksons) just might do the trick. Since the print had enough going on, Annatasha loved that the print co-ordinated pair of earrings (RM288, Denni Kenji at Parksons) and statement necklace (RM39.90, Park Avenue at Parksons) blended right in, as the plain off-white clutch (RM75, Actually KL) didn’t clutter the look.
Our favourite thing about the Baju Kedah is that you can mix and match. We opted for this super sweet beaded baby blue top (RM299.90, Amyn Johari at Parksons), then gave it a twist with a crazy glommed up sequin champagne skirt (RM599, Variante at Parksons). Since the neckline was already nicely beaded, we only used chunky arm bangles and a pair of iridescent blue earrings (RM49, Caron Boutique from Zalora) that sparkled gold at different angles.
Kaftans are the best for any occasion – they’re easy to wear, look appropriate for most activities and are comfortable to no end. We accessorised this purple printed kaftan (RM399, Variante at Parksons) with matching cool-toned jewellery like our tear drop grey stone earrings, oversized shell ring (RM219, House of Harlow from Off The Rack Asia) and a delicate black chain for effect. Finish the look with a warm toned clutch (RM259, Danielle Nicole from Off The Rack Asia).
Finally, our last and my personal fave – the purple Nyonya Kebaya (RM119.90, Kaus by Marshella from Fashion Valet). We paired the top with a plain black skirt (RM229, Variente at Parksons), then threw on lush gold jewellery – a crisp bib necklace (RM80, Eltii from Fashion Valet), a pair of engraved circle hoops (RM249, House of Harlow from Off The Rack Asia) and a simple bracelet to complement the soft embroidery on it. We used a snakeskin fold over clutch (RM289, Danielle Nicole from Off The Rack Asia) to give the look a contemporary twist.
Which are your favourite looks and how would you style them?
