We’re on to another designer collaboration for Shu Uemura, but the designer this time around isn’t new to Shu Uemura. That’s right, Daddy Lagerfeld’s done it again, and by that we mean he’s in it again for this year’s Christmas collaboration and we’re all shades of excited. This year, he’s roped in his most adorable pet cat, Choupette to create the cutest cosmetic collection ever – Shupette by Karl Lagerfeld! Have we gotten your attention now? Good. You’ll want to hear all of this!
Essentially, the 2014 holiday collection for Shu Uemura is simply a collaboration between the popular make-up brand and the most popular, fashionable feline of the internet, Choupette. According to the brand, since fur is in this season in Paris, it only made sense to have Choupette headline this new holiday collection with her sparkly blue cat eyes taking centre stage. I just can’t think of why they didn’t do this sooner!
The collection ranges with items such as the Eye-Need-Shu eyeliner, Shupette Has-It-All eye and lip palette, Eye-Need-Shu Trio eyeshadows, Rouge Bon Bon Fantasy Trio lip colours, Silk Cushion Cheek blushes, My Precious Glitter Set, Fabulous Cat nail enamel, Pampearl-Me face powder, Tsuya Skin UV Base Under Mousse, Ultim8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil, With-Love-From-Paris brush set, Shupette’s Flair eyelash curler, Furry-Fantasy premium false eyelashes, Eye-Need-Shu falsies, and even Shupette’s Make-Up Trunk which are all decked out in illustrations of Shupette. Can I just stop to say, how much I need everything.
The collection combines the best of both Tokyo’s kawaii culture and a luxurious Parisienne chic for the best of both worlds to create looks that are definitely diverse, in just a single palette.
I took some time to put together a simple but cute cat eye look with the Shupette-Has-It-All lip and eye palette that we received from Shu Uemura with the Parisienne colours from the palette for a combination of kawaii and chic that’s ready for the holiday season!
Step 1: After priming your face, cover your lids in the lightest blue colour in the palette, making sure to blend out the edges.
Step 2: Add on a layer of the deeper blue, sweeping out from close to the inner corners of your eyes to the outer corners for a gradient.
Step 3: Then, using a pencil similar to the Eye-Need-Shu eyeliner, I drew in a long sweeping line on my upper and lower lid, dragging it out at the ends. The tip to this look is getting the flick just right for the shape of your eye! When you’ve got it to the perfect shape, blend out the edges to soften the liner and to give yourself a nice smokey cat eye look.
Step 4: Finish off the look with the bright pink parisienne option from the palette and you’re good to go!
A cute, cool cat eye look that’ll instantly brighten up your look on any given day!
The Shupette by Karl Lagerfeld collection is now available at all Shu Uemura counters nationwide while stocks last!
