I first stumbled upon Thika of Versicle on Chictopia. Her post on staying stylish in a small town where no stores such as Forever 21, Zara or even Topshop exists, was inspiring. While the rest of us live in a city where both online and physical stores are accessible and often taken for granted. Thika, or as she like to call herself Marla Singer on the internet, lives in a small town called Jogjakarta – which is about an hour flight away from capital city, Jakarta. She did not frown upon this disadvantage, and instead made use of the blogosphere to record her daily creativity.
In terms of shopping, Thika relies on thrift stores, online blogshops, local boutiques, favours from her friends visiting the city and DIY projects.
She does not overdo trends by sticking to what she knows and is not afraid of experimenting with current styles. She always keeps her outfits harmoniously monochromatic.
Do you notice her shoes? She’s got a range from strappy heels to boots, with colours matching her outfits too!
One of Thika’s distinctive style is her hats! She’s always seen either with her variety of berets and bowler hat!
That bleached vest and fringed boots are her DIY projects!
Her personality also shines through her blog posts, sharing the ups and downs of her daily life about work, friends and the story behind her outfit for the day!
