Even though top celebrities were at the BAFTA Film Awards in full force, we were left less than impressed with some of the looks on the red carpet. Underwhelmed with the amount of black and white on the red carpet and Victoria Beckham dresses, we have both our fingers and toes crossed that perhaps the stars are just saving the best for last – the Oscars. So without further ado, here are the common trends spotted at BAFTAs 2012.
Christina Ricci made a dramatic entrance in a shimmering gold Givenchy gown while Jessica Chastain chose the classier metallic Oscar de la Renta dress. Another actress that shined the red carpet was Aussie actress Melissa George with her skin tight Victoria Beckham dress.
It was the black brigade led by Best Actress winner, Meryl Streep in a low cut Vivienne Westwood dress while Downton Abbey stars Elizabeth McGovern and Jessica Brown Findlay went for the timeless glamour in a strapless gown by Jacques Azagury and a black taffeta gown by Alessandra Rich.
Clean lines and boxy silhouettes, Penelope Cruz spotted an Armani Prive strapless column dress that is simple and understated but memorable at the same time. Tilda Swinton has been gracing the red carpet with her low-key style that we’ve grown to love even more after seeing her in the demure white Celine dress.
Some went for the more glamourous silhouette and color, the 20 year old Shailene Woodley paired her Dolce & Gabbana with Jimmy Choo shoes while Jane Eyre star Holliday Grainger was in a delicate Valentino princess dress and a slick of bold red lipstick to complete the look.
