1. Closet Raider: Mellissa Lee

Posted by Mellissa Lee on March 26, 2010

Since I’m going to be tackling Closet Raider every week now, I decided that the first person who’s closet was in need of some desperate raiding was well, me. See, I’m the type of person who doesn’t plan my outfits and just throws whatever I find on after I step out of the shower. This sucks because I’ve got tons of fantastic pieces which have never seen the light of day! I’ve picked out 5 items which I love, but have barely worn.

Crop jacket with structured shoulders: Bangkok
    Sequin crop top: Ladakh
    Long vest: Bangkok
    Tie-dye dress/long-top: Bangkok
    Lace leggings: Bangkok

I decided to raid my own closet because I’m never going to experiment to put together different looks on my own time – I’m too lazy for that! So here we go, let’s see what I have managed to whip up this week .Please excuse the sunnies – I’m suffering from a bad case of waking up in the morning not feeling like P. Diddy.

Look 1: Perfect for day-time and evening! I’m too shy to wear the crop top all by itself, so I paired it with a pair of dark denim high-waisted shorts and some funky jewelry.

    Top: Ladakh
    Shorts: Bangkok
    Accessories: Forever New
    Shoes: Vincci

Look 2: This is something I would wear at least weekly, perfect for a day of errands or just going to class. I hate wearing waist clinchers but don’t want to look like a sack of potatoes. My favourite alternative? Vests!

    Dress: Bangkok
    Vest: Bangkok
    Shoes: Novo

Look 3: I’ve been struggling with a way to turn this dress into night wear (I love doing this with my clothes, heh) so I thought hang on, what if I put the crop top on top to give it a touch of glamour, and the crop jacket just polished off the look perfectly! I’d definitely wear this out!

    Accessories: Bangkok
    Dress: Bangkok
    Top: Ladakh
    Jacket: Bangkok
    Shoes: Thomas Chan Couture

Look 4: This look is very risqué! I’d probably wear it to a concert or somewhere more funky. I love how the lace tights give the outfit a touch of much needed pattern. I’d never think of putting this combination together – I’m glad I did, it looks fab!

    Boob tube: Supre
    Vest: Bangkok
    Skirt: Bangkok
    Tights: Bangkok
    Shoes: Novo

Look 5: I probably won’t be able to wear the previous look everywhere, so I came up with a more casual combination. This is perfect for nights out in the city or a friend’s birthday party.

    Accessories: Bangkok
    T-shirt: Bangkok
    Crop top: Ladakh
    Vest: Bangkok
    Tights: Bangkok
    Shoes: Vincci

Here’s the obligatory closet shot! I’m living in a tiny one bedroom apartment now so everything’s crammed into there – I even have to store my shoes under the bed! I’m still in the middle of unpacking all my accessories cause as you can see, I’ve run out of space…

    Quick 5 Q’s

    What’s in your handbag?
My pink Canon IXUS 95IS, Blackberry, iPhone (I use it as an iPod), wallet, Moleskine, keys, and a bottle of water.

    Favourite shopping destination?
As you can probably tell, Bangkok! I love all of Thailand, but Bangkok for shopping, definitely.

    Most precious item of clothing?

My dark blue Nudie jeans! They’re not cheap at AUD$220 a pop, but I’ve never found a more flattering pair of jeans, in such a great colour too. Here’s a fun fact about Nudies – you’re not supposed to wash them for the first 6 months to let the colour run and natural creases develop!

    Most expensive item?

Tiffany Keys Quatrefoil 18k Gold Key Pendant with Diamonds on a Tiffany 18k Gold Oval Link Chain – a present from my parents for my 21st birthday. I’m terrified of wearing it just in case I lose it!!!

    Favourite online and offline boutique?
For online, it has to be Room 8008. Offline, hmm, I will always love Gossips!
