Lanvin, Mulberry, Gareth Pugh and Jeremy Scott – these are only a small number out of the list of designers and big labels who have done collaborations with the outside industry. Now here’s another collaboration, a local one in fact, which I’m sure will throw you for a loop.
‘A Limited Edition by Melinda Looi Exclusively for Tesco’, as the name suggests, is a Raya collection done under the collaboration between Tesco Malaysia and Malaysia’s renowned fashion designer, Melinda Looi.
When asked what was the inspiration behind this collection, family was the answer to it. This explains the collection having a full matching outfit for a whole family.
Teaming up with Tesco Malaysia was a good opportunity for Looi to reach out to her fans that are spread across Malaysia. This certainly impresses me, as she does not see this as a threat that might dilute her brand image and instead embrace the versatile opportunities available.
In this collection, you’ll notice a few Melinda’s signature in it: intricate embroidery design, layering of fabrics and sparkly sequin touch-ups.
Melinda Looi’s exclusive Hari Raya collection has already hit Tesco stores since 29th July. The price range starts from RM69 for children and all the way to RM199 for adults. There’s no other place to find Melinda’s pieces in such price range, eh?
