In action on the runways of London Fashion Week, the fashion ‘It’-list and fans bore witness to a collection steeped in classic Britishness – the cinematic rain showers and innate English culture of cool – and Burberry heritage.
As emerging British talents, actress Gabriella Wilde and musician Roo Panes, showcase in the eye-striking black and white ad campaign shot by Mario Testino, the cobbled streets of London are alive with the patent air of English enigma. Mysterious yet oozing sensuality, the stylish lady and dapper gentleman cavort in the latest Burberry Prorsum, London and Brit collections – well-fitted outerwear boasting classic lines yet outfitted with modern trends.
The “Town and Field”-inspired Burberry Prorsum womenswear collection features peplum-style coatswhich are a great compliment to your jet-setting lifestyle. What we found nifty was the clever updated use of oversized pockets as a nod to the return of the feminine form. There are elements of the 1920s and 1940s with the updated coats, ranging from cropped (think flapper style), as well as slim-fitting cocoon silhouettes.
Like the apparel whose classic roots have been evolved upon, the accessories in this collection share the sentiment. Suede bags are given texture while umbrellas are given a touch of ornate with studs.
