Brit Awards 2010: Top 10 Best & Worst Dressed

by on .

It wasn’t just an event to celebrate the musical talents of the year, but it was a special 30th anniversary to the Brit Awards. Judging from the tweets and news reports, Brit Awards just gets better. Although the rain kept pouring, it did not stop the nominees and celebrity guests showing up in their best! Surprisingly, the choices of outfit for this year’s Brit Awards are more creative than the Golden Globes, where stars dressed in their gowns rather than according to their personal style. Here we compile our Top 10 Best and Worst Dressed of Brit Awards 2010.

Best Dressed

1. Lady Gaga

Looking like a giant tiered cake is Lady Gaga. Compared to her outrageous outfit during Grammy Awards arrivals, this one looks more avant garde and at least, we don’t need to worry about accidentally hurting herself or someone else with sharp objects. The artiste later on made an emotional dedication to the late Alexander McQueen during her performance.

2. Lily Allen

Looking completely different from Lady Gaga’s all white ensemble is Lily Allen‘s dark choice. I personally like it better. The dress gives her a taller posture and she looks very exotic with the patterned neckline. Her hair is also looking very adorable, and the heavy eye make up polishes the whole look.

3. Florence Welch

Florence looked like an ice queen with a burst of colour from her signature red hair and lips. The dress was glamorous enough to portray her star status, and it accentuated her long legs.

4. Alicia Keys

Alicia rarely gets it right on the red carpet, but this shimmering, structured black dress did her justice.

5. Cat Deeley

TV personality, Cat Deeley looks adorable in her little black dress. It’s a little common but the sequins on the skirt separates this outfit from the rest.

6. Natasha Khan (Bat for Lashes)

This outfit may have had several  different opinions about it already, but I think it suits Natasha’s (of Bat for Lashes) eclectic personality.

At a glance, Welsh singer, Katherine Jenkins‘ printed dress may seem to carry a stencil of Audrey Hepburn, but look closely, it’s actually Queen Elizabeth – talk about British patriotism!

8. Leona Lewis

After contemplating for a while, I think Leona Lewis deserve a spot in the Best Dressed for this year’s Brit Awards. She embodied today’s trend with her hairstyle and pink lips – although I’m not entirely feeling the pink pumps.

9. Ke$ha

Ke$ha looks a little more polished during the Brit Awards last night – still looking like a hot mess, she sported a classic rockstar ensemble that we don’t see much on the red carpet these days.

10. Nicola Roberts

Girls Aloud member, Nicola Roberts was photographed backstage while watching her fellow band member, Chery Cole performing. She probably did not walk the red carpet in this dress, but this picture caught my eye. The dress resembles a little Katy Perry chic.

Bonus: Ed Macfarlane (Friendly Fires)

Looking like your classic British boy is Friendly Fires member, Ed Macfarlane. He also brought along a camera – how cute!

Worst Dressed

1. Courtney Love

Queen of the hot mess is Courtney Love – except she rarely looks hot in her outfit choices. I don’t understand why Courtney can’t get herself to dress her age, or at least, do something about her hair.

2. Kylie Minogue

I expected more from Kylie Minogue, but this year she disappoints with her black lace dress. The outfit aged her by few years and the hair did not do any justice either.

3. Katie Melua

Songstress Katie Melua looks awkward in her ensemble. I don’t know what part of the ensemble I hate most but I can tell you which item she should be tossing away first - the shoes!

4. Abigail Clancy

Lingerie model Abbey Clancy did not look classy at all with this mini patterned dress. We get that you have the body for a short dress, but next time, can you pick something that makes you look like you put a little bit more effort at getting dressed.

Scottish singer, Sharleen Spiteri may have tried to do the boyfriend blazer trend – but sadly to say, it failed. The dress should have been fitting, or at least take off the blazer.

6. Jameela Jamil

TV presenter Jameela Jamil look disasterous at the Brit Awards last night. Perhaps it was the length of the dress, or the bag that did not compliment the whole outfit, or just her make up.

7. Gabriella Cilmi

Australian singer, Gabriella Cilmi actually looked decent. Its probably the coat, and the dress just doesn’t seem to fit her right.

8. Edith Bowman

Scottish TV presenter and DJ, Edith Bowman looked a lot older in her ensemble last night. Maybe she should have changed shoes, and taken off the lace leggings, or clich a belt to that unflattering blue dress.

9. Marina Diamandis

Marina Diamandis of Marina and the Diamonds wore a black glitter dress, and looked like she came out of an ’80s show. She probably tried looking elegant, but I say, she should just stick to her usual style.

10. Pixie Lott

It took me a while to dislike Pixie Lott’s dress. At first it looked like a decent enough dress, but the colour brought her down making her look like an older woman, or going to a fancy funeral. It’s too bad, she has the body to pull off any kind of dresses. As a young girl, she should just stick to vibrant colours.

Bonus: Boy George

I’d really like to know the story behind the outfit that Boy George chose for Brit Awards. Maybe a crossover between Halloween costume and punk rock?

That’s a wrap up of Best Dressed and Worst Dressed of Brit Awards 2010. Which look did you like from the red carpet last night?
