1. WindowShopBlog: Sou Brette Jewellery (IN)

Posted by happy phua on May 7, 2009

This week on WindowShopBlog, we discover the wonder that is Sou Brette Jewellery. The handmade accessories are designed by Muqliza Imroni hailing from Jakarta, Indonesia. Starting the business when a high demand for Sou Brette pieces was in order, the name Sou Brette comes from a theater term meaning a female role as a French maid with down-to-earth characteristics.

After a long hiatus, she is back with her most personal collection labeled “Fiction Romance”. Inspired by the song (same title as collection) by British punk band Buzzcocks, all the pieces are infused with Muqliza’s favourite things – Buzzcocks’ Operator’s Manual, ballerinas, 90s silk patterns, and seashell colours.

Each piece is hand-made and handcrafted in Indonesia using solid resin. TiC isn’t the first to take notice of Sou Brette Jewellery, as it’s already been sussed out by Nylon, Cool Hunting, Stylelist, DailyWhatNot and more.

Stiletto – Heavy, solid, white resin pendant on a black suede ribbon with metal components.

In Muqliza’s opinion, jewellery is timeless and versatile for the young or old. Her ideas come from everything she sees, listens or does and when she gets the vision of things she will sketch them out and start making samples.

She recently collaborated with Resida Irmine in a clothing line Proud Parents at A.O.D. in Jakarta, Indonesia.
