In tune with Havaianas‘ grand launch tomorrow at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur – it’s first flagship store ever in Malaysia, we have with us a 5-minute chat with bubbly presenter and self-proclaimed Havaianista, Azura Zainal. We got the dirt on her foot fetish and rubbery obsession all here and find out what’s in store for the first 50 shoppers!
1. How many pairs of Havaianas do you own?
I have seven pairs of Havaianas and counting!
2. What is your favorite pair and why?
I like them all because they’re all stylish and colourful which goes with most of my outfits. Every pair gets “equal wear time”.
3. How did the affair with a pair of Havaianas start?
I actually found out about it from a Brasilian friend who is a Capoeira Instructor. He bought me a pair from the Philippines for my Birthday and the rest as they say, is history!
4. Was it a whirlwind relationship?
When I got my first pair I was super happy because I knew from then on I could start a collection of Havaianas. I mean how can one not?! It became my everyday thing.
5. What exactly do you see in them?
I like the fact that it’s so comfortable! I don’t get blisters from wearing Havaianas and of course the fact that Havaianas is so funky, fashionable and it comes in awesome colours and styles, do help!
6. Fun, Fashion & Functionality… care to elaborate?
I was told by my Brasilian friend that Havaianas started as a simple pair of sandals that people use to go to the beach. It serves the function of being able to look smashing, fun and at the same time it’s comfortable for anybody to use. The fact that it’s colourful and eye-catching makes
Havaianas very sought after. Imagine wearing a bikini with a pair of
Havaianas? Woohoo! But of course to me comfort is everything and Havaianas is exactly that.
9. What do you think a Havaianista is like?
Havaianistas are fun, out-going, and doesn’t care what others might think. They’re carefree and always up for a good time.

11. Havaianas flagship store opens tomorrow, how do you feel about it?
I’m so, so excited the fact that Havaianas is finally opening in Malaysia. Now I don’t have to get my Havaianas from Singapore, Australia or the
Philippipnes anymore. In fact, I was so into Havaianas, I actually wanted to bring it to Malaysia myself! But someone already beat me to it. Darn!
