1. Halloween Special: Costume Stores in Klang Valley pt.2

Posted by Xin Yi on October 18, 2010

Once again, it’s that time of the year for you to start getting your freak on! Since our last Halloween Special blogpost had such an overwhelming response from you peeps, we decided to follow up on that and share more fantastic costume stores with you to make your hunt for the perfect Halloween outift a breeze.

I’ve got to be honest and say that before working on this blogpost, I never knew there were so many costume stores in the Klang Valley. In other words, we are definitely spoilt for choice.

    My Fantasies

The first store we headed to was My Fantasies in Jaya One. The store has only been opened for two months and as the name suggests the store carries a wide variety of sexy costumes for the ladies. So if you are looking to be a sexy nurse or a vixen of a devil, you should definitely pay this store a visit.

What do you think? Can I get away with having curly hair?

The retail price for these costumes ranges from the reasonable price of RM90 to RM200 while the cost of renting will be half of the retail price. Costume rentals are only allowed for a duration of 3 days. The costumes come with their necessary accessories too! You can also buy a wig or two to bring your costume to the next level. But you have to head to the store quickly because they’re having a special Halloween promotion.

Remember to check out this reversible devil and angel costume at My Fantasies.

    All hail the queen!

If you are too busy or do not live around the area, you can always purchase the costumes at My Fantasies’ online store. To find out more about My Fantasies check out their website and Facebook page.

    Century Fiesta

Remember the scene in The Devil Wears Prada where you gasped as Nigel brought Andrea into “The Closet” and it was filled with clothes and accessories in every brand imaginable. That was how I felt when I walked into Century Fiesta’s treasure trove of costumes. The store has an archive of 2000 over costumes! Most of these costumes as designed and made in-house so it’s highly unlikely that you’ll find someone else with the exact same costume. In addition, they also have superhero costumes that are brought in from overseas.

The owners behind Century Fiesta are Marie and her son Pierre. I found their French accent with a hint of Malaysian twang the cutest thing ever. The store has been around for six years and provides people with every costume under the sun -  from Cleopatra to X-Men costumes.

    This Halloween’s most popular costume

Costume rentals start at RM45.00 with a minimum deposit of RM100 per set including accessories and trust me accessories are crucial for a Halloween costume.

Afterall, how can you call yourself a witch without your broomstick? Also take note that rentals are allowed for three to four days at a time. Century Fiesta also makes custom made costumes upon request.

For more information check out their website.

    Urban Party

Next, we headed to the land of college students (SS15) where we found Urban Party, which specializes in all things party from party supplies, event planning services and most importantly costumes.

    Love the colours!

Urban Party pride themselves at the fact that they sell costumes at a very modest price. All their costumes go for less that RM100 therefore it makes more sense for you to buy them rather than rent them. For me, the special thing about this store is their wide array of masks. Be it a masquerade mask or a mask fit for the Venetian Carnival you can get it at Urban Party and the price won’t burn a whole in your pocket.

Most of the costumes at Urban Party are imported from Taiwan, China and the U.S. Since the store is so new, owner, Matthew Gan says that he’ll be bringing in more superhero costumes. So you can look forward to go to Halloween parties as your favourite alter-ego if any!

For more information head over to their website.

    Urban Party is located at:
    No. 10 (2nd Floor),
    SS15/8, 47500 Subang Jaya,
    Selangor, Malaysia

    Don’t mess with me!

When asked about the most popular Halloween costume this year, these store owners told us that it was the sexy devil. So if you girls were thinking of being a sexy devil, I suggest you reconsider.

There are more costume stores around Klang Valley that you might also want to check out such as:

Super Cool Hobby store located at Asian Avenue @ Sunway Pyramid

Cantiquecostume.com located at 22-1, Jalan Sulaiman 1, Taman Putra Sulaiman, Ampang 68000 Selangor, Malaysia.
    Tel: +603 4270 4330
    .

You can also check out this online costume store called Hyphen-Mirage.

    Happy costume hunting everyone!

Special thanks to Karen and Hwei-Ming for the photos!
