Here’s round two of our Wrangler and Tongue in Chic’s quest for style. We’re giving away a 16GB iPad 2 each month – all you need to do is just style yourself up with Wrangler jeans and that iPad 2 could be yours to keep! Just in case you need some inspiration, here are some looks Hanie Hidayah of Just Another Average Jane came up with.

by: Hanie Hidayah of Just Another Average Jane

Looking back over the years, I realized that I rely on denim so much that I have almost 10 pairs of different colours. It’s true then that for many people, including me, denim is our basic must-have and I personally wear it almost everyday! Some people prefer slacks, chiffon pants, shorts or skirts – I swear by my denims. They flatter almost every top and accessory I put on and they are, to me, the most versatile piece of clothing a girl could have.

I chose these 752 Skinny jeans from Wrangler as the material stretches according to your movement but still clings to your hips nicely. I love the length of these jeans as it sits just above my ankles, allowing me to pair it with high-cut or cuffed shoes.

Look 1: Coloured Blazer

Blazer: Topshop
Cropped top: Cotton On
Shoes: Agape Boutique

I have profound love for loud pieces such as coloured blazers and to me, it is a good investment, no matter what colour it is as it can be dressed down or up according to the occasion.

I chose a red blazer and striped crop top on the inside to make the red hue pop out and purposely let the long sleeves of the top come out longer than the hem of the blazer’s sleeves. It’s a simple look to be worn from day to night, from boardroom to the after-party. You will never go wrong with a tee/tank and a good-fitting blazer on the outside.

Look 2: Festival Chick

Top: Topshop
Boots: Dr Martens
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Clubmasters

A simple tank top or tee is the perfect pairing for a pair of denims but I personally like the difference a muscle crop top and pair of boots can bring to a pair of denims. Accessorize with a stack of bangles or rings when you’re donning this look and it gives you a little bit of edge with the black-on-denim colour combo. Put on a pair of Ray-Ban’s and you’re ready to go for outdoor festivals.

Look 3: Sheer Black

Top: Room 8008
Shoes: Agape Boutique
Dreamcatcher necklace: Forever21
Hair accessory: Gallo by Thian

I’ve always thought that the Vivi magazine style only suited girls of a certain look but boy, was I wrong! I tried to re-create the look with a sleek short-sleeved sheer top tucked in at the front while I left the back to hang loose. To my surprise, the jeans folded nicely, with a nice inner colour that gives a ‘block’ effect. I wore a pair of black wedged heels as safety but you can pair it with wedged heels of any colour and it will still look nice. To give that cute effect, I wore a scarf on my head and tied it into a ribbon while I kept it simple with just one long-chained necklace.

Look 4: No Sweat

Fedora: Times Square
Sweater: Mango MNG
Flats: Bangkok

I usually throw a sweater over my jeans while at the movies or when I’m in the malls. It’s the perfect laid-back look for mall trips, or even for class. I threw in a black fedora to give the look some spice and a pair of ballet flats for comfort. You can even give the jeans two thumbs fold or tuck it into a pair of boots of any height and it will still look very chic. Think Kate Moss or Sienna Miller going out to get some coffee while still looking picture ready for the paps.

Look 5: Feather Lite

Top: ASOS
Shoes: Agape Boutique
Dreamcatcher and feather hairclip: D.I.Y

I am literally obsessed with feather accessories and this would be my favourite everyday look especially in this hot and humid weather we have nowadays. A loose, flared top with a long necklace and a pair of nude-coloured wedged heels is my perfect frolicking in the garden look. I can even ditch the heels and pair it with flip flops or go barefoot for the beach, ala Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dreams”. The feather hair clip can be replaced with feathered earrings instead.

Look 6: Boyfriend’s shirt

Shirt: Zara mens
Belt: Zara
Shoes: Agape Boutique

A boyfriend’s shirt is the best pairing with a pair of denims on any day! I borrowed my boyfriend’s denim shirt and paired it with a brown skinny belt, tucked in on one side. The gold shoes were a touch of glam since everything else was pretty much down to earth.

Look 7: Oriental Flow

Outerwear: Topshop
Tank top: Forever 21
Shoes: Agape Boutique
Dreamcatcher: D.I.Y

I like the flowy kimono-inspired outerwears that most high-street stores have nowadays. Not only that it’s decent for most places, it is also thin and airy enough for our tropical weather. This green slip-on top from Topshop is my favourite as the cool, minty tone pairs perfectly with the blue hue of the denim.
