Quietly launched on 15 June 2017, the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets sprung up seemingly overnight just next to The Awana Skyway.

For those who haven’t made the 45-minute trip up recently, the Skyway was opened last year, replacing the old cable car centre. Shiny and brand spanking new, each gondola seats up to 10 people and rides a lot more stable than its predecessor. Operating daily from 7:00am till midnight, a standard ride costs RM8 per trip (RM16 for return) and for the bravehearted, the glass-floored gondola is available at RM50 per trip.

But, all the shopping action happens at the foot of the highlands. The second Premium Outlet Center after Johor Premium Outlets (JPO), it is touted as Southeast Asia’s first hilltop Premium Outlet Centre. Genting Highlands Premium Outlets is markedly smaller, but this time, those discounted goods are within arm’s reach!

The Premium Outlet Centre is not fully opened yet, but we spotted some pretty good buys that we recommend for you to check out this long Raya weekend. Some stores offered additional discounts in conjunction with the opening, and will go on until stocks last! Here are our top picks.

Universal Traveller offered discounts of up to 70% for their men’s, women’s, as well as kids’ lines. You can get simple windbreakers in pretty pastel colours at only RM99! If you’re planning to visit a cold country soon, it would be wise to start stocking up here.

We are disappointed that these don’t come in adult sizes, but hey – we can pack light! (Says us, as we smile sheepishly…)

Everyone’s favourite high street brands are all under one roof here – Topman, Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Warehouse, and Wallis were all also offering discounts of up to 70%. Our eyes spied glittering sequinned dresses and peachy hot pants!

Apart from the toiletries and fragrances that are already available in Klang Valley stores, this outlet stocks VS undies (freaking finally!?) at RM145 for 5 or RM29 each.

This queue lasted the entire time we were there – it must be that darned 50% discount sign on the shop window. We never got round to checking out what the buzz was all about. Instead, we left with one of those Shaun the Sheep luggage bags…for a “niece”, apparently!

If you live in jeans, now’s a good time to get your hands on a quality pair. Levi’s and Dockers are offering additional discounts of 15% for 3 items and 30% for 5 items and above. From their super skinny to thigh-slimming range, there’s something for everyone here!

We’ve died and gone to shoe and handbag heaven (it’s called Charles & Keith).

Other stores that are already open include Aigner, Furla, Oroton, Puma, TANGS Outlet, Tumi, Adidas, The North Face, and Superdry.

The Premium Outlet Centre is expected to fully open by the end of the year with brands such as Typo, Cotton On, Onitsuka Tiger, and Royal Sporting House.

Until 24 June, the first 100 customers of the day who spend RM200 or more will receive one return ticket for a standard cable car ride! You’ll only need to present your receipt at the information counter.

To fuel up, you can head over to the food court or any one of the restaurants that are already serving customers, such as Baba Nyonya by Sambal Chilli, George & Dragon Cafe, and Madame Waffle. Kampachi is also expected to open here.

Happy shopping, and have a great weekend ahead!
