TiC Pick: Top 5 Blogs I Love
Funnily, I thought the same thing as Fafa when I started out, and you have no idea how terribly wrong we were. I have fun everyday in the Tongue in Chic office, and half of that comes from perching at other people's shoulders peeking into their monitors - the wealth of "information" and laughter that goes around is something I never expected from working in the office. But working here was so, and now I'm slightly more optimistic about my future career prospects.
But, it's time to return the favour, so here I introduce my picks of five (not necessarily fashion related) of my favourite internet haunts.
TiC Pick: Craft Parties
When my editor gave me this assignment I basically jumped out of my seat and flailed my arms while dancing around like a headless, but incredibly ecstatic, chicken. The space below my bed is filled with 300gsm cardstocks, my immense collection of stationery is stored in homemade pen holders, and my cupboards are filled with folders and folders worth of printed paper that are barely touched because I couldn’t bring myself to ruin its perfect symmetry. In short, a craft party is my personal brand of heaven, and if you’ve never been to one… boy, are you missing out!
TiC Pick: Olivia Roat
By virtue of its placement, hats are the most attention striking of sartorial delights. To achieve a suitable perch requires a precision most fail to master, the thought of which makes me sigh with longing for the days long past when hats were a necessary staple to be deemed fashionable (I have similar pangs for Victorian bustles and intricate corsets). Though hats are now mostly relegated from necessity to mere preference, here we present to you some of the most conversation-worthy headgears this season and a young designer who has done great justice to keep the trend alive.

With only 3 showings at New York Fashion Week thus far, upcoming designer Prabal Gurung is already making waves in the fashion industry. Famed for his delicately feminine women's wear that crosses textures and engage bold silhouettes, Gurung is on our watch for most promising upcoming designer.

Love her or not, you are going to have to embrace the fact that Lady Gaga's empire has taken over. She is everywhere, and I don't think she will be slowing down anytime soon. For this week's TiC Pick, we'll be discussing the brand - Haus of Gaga.

TiC Pick: Valentine's Day Limited Edition Havaianas
Valentine's Day is cloyingly sweet in all its painted advertisers' glory and though flower, chocolates and expensive dinners are de riguer for the day, it's always more appealing to play the rebel and subvert the melodramatic romanticism. Though flip-flops might be a strange gift for Valentine's Day, key in the fact that it's Havaianas, not just any plain ol' slippers, and that it's of a limited edition design and you have yourself a winner!
TiC Pick: London Fashion Week Collaborations for Topshop
Though buying a Christopher Kane or Barbara Hulanicki (Biba) design may have been a pipe dream of many in the past, Topshop has played an instrumental part in making those dreams reality with their designer collaborations that enable the masses to get their hands on designer goods for-less. In light of the upcoming London Fashion Week primed to kick off on February 2010, Topshop has announced some mini-collections from designers showing during fashion week. With a mix of looks that cover the range of 'urban edge', one can only drool in lust and envy at the looks from Ann-Sofie Back, Jonathan Saunders and Ashish.

I've always found cocktail dresses to be one of the hardest to find. Too glamorous and it ends up in the realm of ball gowns and if there's insufficient glam, it becomes a casual day dress. That's why this Narciso Rodriguez canvas shift dress would be my pick for cocktail wear.
TiC Pick: Alexander McQueen Pelle Leather Booties
The Alexander McQueen Pelle Leather Booties have been seen on the soles of trend-setting young starlets like Rihanna and Lindsay Lohan since its first arrival in stores back in January. The same boots is not only making fashion headlines it's also causing a stir in the not-so-friendly section of the news; where Steve Madden is currently being sued for a too-similar recreation.
TiC Pick: Panel Bodycon Skirts
The Hervé Léger bodycon bandage dress was all the rage in 2008 as we covered in our previous TiC Pick. The close-fitting dress was certainly a beauty but not very viable if you weren't a skinny minny. Topshop adapted the trend and put their own spin on it in their panel bodycon skirts that were a hit with fashionistas far and wide.
TiC Pick: Halter Playsuits
I blame today's TiC Pick on the leggy blonde goddess that is Blake Lively. Or as my guy friend would put it so eloquently, "the tall hot one, not the stuck-up b*tch". During the summer in America, paparazzi frequently caught her wearing something I previously thought infantile, halter playsuits. She wore playsuits so often and so frequently that I couldn't help change my previous stance and adopt a new belief. Maybe they're not so bad after all!
TiC Pick: Pleated d'Orsay Pumps
Personally, I've never been a heels kind of girl, which I think my daddy's wallet appreciates very much. In fact, I only own one pair of heels. However, there are a few select pairs I adore and love to look at as works of art, rather than a mere accessory. One of them, is the Christian Louboutin Armadillo peep toe platforms.
