A super-sized star-studded launch party was the only way to go for Singapore's first model-search reality TV show, SUPERMODELME.tv. For one lovely evening, the exclusive confines of Mimolette located behind the Old Turf Club became the hotspot for celebrities, supermodels, stylists, photogs and a pool of good-looking people.

Emma Pei a.k.a Pei Bei is taking over the reign of Du Juan’s status as China’s prodigal modelling export on the international runways. Steadily appearing on the catwalks for a great number of shows on the fashion circuit; Pei has walked for Alexander McQueen, Dries Van Noten, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang and opened Galliano’s 2007 couture show in Paris. Although noted alongside Du Juan on Tongue In Chic before, I don’t believe the girl has got herself a proper mention. She certainly gives Angelina a run for her money with that flawless, milky complexion and pouty lips.

Being an Asian model and having international stardom is a huge achievement. I can count on one hand the number of Asian models with international recognition – Hye Park, Ai Tominaga, Liu Wen, Emma Pei and Han Jin.
One in particular who has attained stardom and caught my attention is Du Juan. The willowy, pouty Shanghainese is the first Asian supermodel that has graced the cover of French Vogue.
