Fashion Flirt @ Urbanattic (KL)
If there was one thing to take away from Fashion Flirt is that the sole focus of a fashion design showcase should not merely be on the clothes designs, but the environment too. The 9 fashion design graduates may have laboured away at creating their six-clothes collection however the stage in which they presented detracted from the overall experience of the night.

Last Tuesday, Joyce and I attended the Raffles International College 22nd graduation fashion show and exhibition at J.W. Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The Victim A la Mode fashion show happened last Saturday at Mist Club and it was a night of glamor, fashion and fun! I was there to catch the fashion show and eye candies aside, I was impressed by the showcase put together by many up-and-coming talented young designers in Malaysia, including students of the SML Fashion Academy, Rebellz, and Julia Leong. Last Thursday, I bore witness to an epic war that left no one injured or hurt (except heartache perhaps). The atmosphere was charged and there were loud yells and cheers all over, yet there was no animosity or ill intentions towards one another. Of course, this wasn’t just any war; this was StyleWars, a showcase for young Malaysian designers organized by Raffles International College. Limkokwing Uni: Creativity In Motion (KL)
Last Sunday, year 2009 fashion graduates from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology presented their creations at a show in Bangsar Shopping Center. The event was extremely successful, attracting a large audience to witness its fashion show entitled "Creativity in Motion". Full of life and extremely entertaining, creativity was indeed the heart of the event; from the sculpted clothes to the creative interpretation of catwalking some of the models did down the runway!
MODA @ 1 Utama
Last week, Joyce, Happy and I went for the MODA (Malaysian Official Designers Association) Unity Showcase, the finale for MODA's Fashion Gateway. The event was held in conjunction with 1 Utama's annual event, Fashion On 1 - "Fashion Takes Flight."
Sequence Fashion Show
Last month, a little fashion show was staged at Urbanattic featuring three online boutiques - Bunny Noo, Blushberry and Sexxay Clothes @ Sexxay Prices. They came out of the browsers and on to a makeshift runway to a fairly small audience. I posted about this a month ago, but grr, it got lost, so here's a very very late review. Sorry!
A Cut Above 30th Annivesary @ Mid Valley
Yet another event in conjunction with the Mid Valley Megamall Fashion Week 2009, A Cut Above celebrated its 30th annivesary with the theme A Cut Above Glamorizes Your World. Started by Winnie Loo and Richard Teo in 1979 at a humble small salon in Wisma HLA, A Cut Above has earned its reputation by winning multiple awards and being awarded The Best Hairdressing Centre 2006-2008 by City and Guilds, London.
Triumph Zero To Sexy Fashion Show
Triumph, an expert in lingerie for more than 120 years, have come up with the new "zero to sexy" maximizer bra. The cleverly designed zero gap centre from advanced sewing techniques provides maximum boost for a sexy cleavage. In conjunction with "Fashion On 1", they held a fashion show in 1 Utama last week.
'Fashion on 1' Gala Party
Besides the whole week of fashion shows and events that have been taking place at Gardens and Mid Valley, 1 Utama launched its own fashion week last night by hosting debut party 'Fashion On 1'. With pink cocktails, mini appetizers from Paddington House Of Pancakes and plenty of invited guests and celebrities, the gala party a week of public fashion shows for Spring/Summer 2009 collections from international and local brands.
Raoul SS09 Showcase
Douglas Benjamin, the CEO of FJ Benjamin said, "In the midst of all the gloom and doom, we wanted to project happiness and a positive vibe." When it comes to the fashion industry, the answer to everything is always a party! So the intention was encapsulated into a fashion showcase held at the Gardens, featuring Raoul's bright and vibrant SS09 collection.
Quiksilver & Roxy SS09 Fashion Show @ MV
Last Wednesday, Quiksilver and Roxy splashed their new SS 09 Collection on stage at Mid Valley Megamall. Inspired by blends of colours from the 80s new wave scene with that of the 90s, plus an eco-friendly perspective; theme of the night was"Surf Fast Rock Hard".
Raffles College Graduation Showcase
It was last Thursday when Raffles International College presented its 21st College Graduation showcase aptly called Fusion. Held at the prestigious J.W. Marriot, the showcase was an assemblage of 22 young talents, each with a conceptual booth to display their works. In spite of the impressive presentations that surrounded us, it was the fashion show that got everyone talking.
Rebellz Fashion Show @ Goddezz
Last Thursday, Jeen and I went to Goddezz at Solaris, Mont Kiara for a sneak peek at Rebellz's new arrivals. A new online boutique headed by Jean and Ju, Rebellz specifically caters to the Malaysian and Australian market.
Give Me Some Space
Late last evening I attended Nurita Harith's fashion show at Space, which featured some of the latest designs by Nurita Harith, Alexandrea Yeo, Justin Yap, Jimmy Lim, Micky Tan, and PU3 that we've blogged about here and here.
