When mention the word 'chalk', the first thing that pops into my head is school, blackboards and playing hopscotch. But one sassy lady, Priscilla Tan, has widened my perception by naming her fashion label after the word - Chalk!

What started out as a bookstore, ended up as an all-in-one lifestyle company, with books, music, homeware and kitschy items all offered under one roof.
Chic Shop: The Stylisté (KL)
Most boutiques can lay claim to having a certain sense of style. Subscribing to one style helps the public relate to the wares on sale and encourages fans to come back. So can you imagine the awesome-tastic organized chaos that would be four distinctive styles in a boutique? Ladies and gentleman, let me introduce you to The Stylisté, a new boutique in KL that is run by not one or two, but four acclaimed Malaysian stylists!
Chic Shop: H5 (KL)
Just 3 days old with some ranges already sold out(!), H5 is a brand new store in Bangsar Village II that will be on the must-visit list for any coolhunter in KL. The minimalist store stocks some of the coolest cult brands for watches and sneakers; including Nooka, FeiYue, Noon Copenhagen, LIP from France, Alive Tokyo and Philippe Starck.
Chic Shop: rockstar by soon lee (SG)
Being considered fashion-forward in Singapore is not without the recognition of Haji Lane and its many fashionable boutiques. We’ve blogged about Pluck, White Room and soon lee before, so you know we are great fans of the Singaporean indie fashion boutique circuit. So when we heard about Soon Lee’s second shop, rockstar, we could not help the excitement butterflies that fluttered in our tummies.
Chic Shop: Plush (KL)
Last Saturday, I headed over to Bangsar to check out the opening of Plush Boutique. As much of a cliche as it sounds, I love my Bangsar boutiques. Certain attributes give a boutique its reputation - being fashion forward, relatively affordable, owned by people passionate about what they're doing, and be the sort who'd tell you not to buy something because it doesn't suit you.
Chic Shop: Cloth & Sash
Cloth & Sash sounds like a song you've heard before. You might mistake it for Cloth & Clef, you might think you're at Marmalade at first glance, you might think you've seen it all before in Kitsch upon first browse; instead, it's the new kid on the Bangsar boutique block.
Chic Shop: Tong Tong Friendship Store
Looking for atypical and unique cheongsams? Or what about dresses that have been cheekily reinvented with an Asian twist? Enter Tong Tong Friendship Store! Tucked away in a little corner of Shaw Towers, the gorgeous interior and wonderful dresses will leave you wanting more.
Chic Shop: The Porter Collection
I'm a big fan of pawn shops. I love the novelty of owning something that belonged to someone else, and how preloved items gives off a vibe of memories. Also, how these items have probably seen more in life than you have. I'm a romantic, can't you tell? :)
Chic Shop: woodwood
It's always great to find local labels that won't create a hole in your pocket and located in the back alleys of Level 2, Far East Plaza, is one of them. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Woodwood Private Label stocked in-house designs as well as various pieces from around the region.
Chic Shop: Peppered Cherry
Do you have a penchant for wearing trendy outfits that are one-of-a-kind? Different styles that are cool, funky and got-to-have-it clothes? If yes, then Peppered Cherry is for you :)

There are quite a number of boutiques that are opened by local personalities these days. There's Sew & Soul boutique by Amber Chia, Chic Nail Spa by Soong Ai Ling, more recently - Le Tea by singer Aric Ho.
Chic Shop: Threesixty
Last Thursday, a little birdie named Didi told us a boutique had popped up at our home base (aka Jaya One), near Cold Storage and Guardian Pharmacy. Naturally, the Freeform girls turned it into a mini excursion to scope out the place.
Chic Shop: Mustard
Kota Damansara is now unofficially known as the new boutiques shopping district (In other words we can self proclaim it as the new Bangsar). I went to check out Mustard just this week after hearing great things about it from April.
Chic Shop: MNEP / The Burrow
MNEP aka The Burrow opened its doors last month in one of the most bustling student populated spots in the Klang Valley. In my opinion, it's one boutique I've seen in a long time that has the potential to be the next staple place to shop.
Chic Shop: Sew The Pop Station
Sew The Pop Station is a shop in Manila selling bold and colourful items that never go out of season. Located at the garage of Green Park View Village in Pasig City, it is owned by Ava Paguyo. Ava first fell in love with fashion when she was exposed to Vivienne Westwood and discovered there was more to clothes than the basic mall types.
Chic Shop: my Room
I was in the East recently to pay newly-opened Tampinese 1 a visit when I decided to check out the nearby Tampinese Mall that's just next door. This quaint shop caught my eye! It definitely stood out admist the neighbourhood local stores with it's white washed walls and warm yellow glow.
Chic Shop: Maizen
Maizen opened to the streets of Bangsar five years ago, but if you haven't heard of them, don't feel bad - Maizen isn't part of the hyped Telawi boutique flock.However, if you don't head there after reading this post, you ought to feel bad for missing out on brands you always wished KL would carry.
Chic Shop: Musse

I re-caught Anastasia the other night on Youtube in nine parts. With Tsarevich images distinctly embedded in my head and a shopping urge to please, I woke to find Musse the next day. Located in the Telawi heart of Bangsar, Musse looks like a little loft, standing out like Hugh Grant's blue door in Notting Hill amidst a sea of otherwise, ordinary open-air stores.
