Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Maxi Dresses
Trends are being recycled as we know it; some are short-lived while others are longer-lasting. The maxi dress - a staple of many starlets and regular girls alike, is here to stay due to its versatility and instant glamour that it exudes.

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: The Prom Queen
Personally, I really loved prom! Although it’s been five years now (*gulp*) I still have really fond memories of the day; all of us were dressed to the nines, doing our hair and make-up together, and gossiping about who’ll be coming with who! I think proms will never get old or ever get out of style.

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Feathers
Anyone who knows me fairly well would know that I detest all sorts of birds with a passion. I can’t explain it – some people hate cats, some hate dogs, some hate spiders or other creepy crawlies while I, on the other hand, find anything with feathers horribly disgusting. As much as I hate birds though, I’m definitely not one to stand in the way of fashion, so when feathers came stomping down the runways of Fashion Week, I let them carry me away!
Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Pattern on Pattern
The saying "less is more" is one that has undeniably been repeated over and over again in the fashion industry. Nude is in. Minimalism is the key idea to Spring 2010's trends. Leggings and t-shirts were ripped into shreds. Unfortunately as fickle and unpredictable that fashion can be, I'm afraid, ladies, let's talk now about how more is actually ... well ... more.

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Crop Tops
For this week's Trend Talk Tuesdays, we take a trend that has been around since the '90s and is now a staple choice in the wardrobe of many. We see it scouring the blogosphere, amongst It girls, on the streets and even runways.

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: The Virgin Suicides
I first picked up The Virgin Suicides because I fell in love with its film interpretative cover. When the movie eventually hit our shores later that year in 1999, I was floored by Sofia Coppola's take on the Lisbon sisters' wardrobe and overall feel. It was immediately etched into my head as the way Spring fashion is supposed to be. Which is why I'm glad certain designers have taken a step back from modernism to pay attention to the romantics this year.

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Lolita
Okay right up front, I'm going to admit that this isn't really what you'd call an inspirational trend which suddenly came up in the form of a blinking lightbulb while I spent hours surfing fashion blogs and websites. To be frank, I was surfing Style.com one day when I came across a trend featured on their trend blog - the Lolita trend - something, which even I have to admit, has influenced my dressing and sense of style a lot too.

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Epaulettes
This week's trend actually isn't something I would consider "up and coming" as many of you will probably know, it's been flooding the online blogshop scene recently! However its tough and persistent presence (whether lasting or not) on the fashion scene has led me to explore it further for TTT this week. What am I talking about? Epaulettes, of course!

Babette Epaulette
Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Animal Prints
Many would realize how hot animal prints were for the later part of last year, especially with the Christopher Kane for Topshop line which prompted the suddenly flood of thousands of tiger head "knock-off" copies flooding the fashion world. Not to forget, infamous ex-Miss Singapore World, Ris Low, and her declaration of love for "leopard prings and zip-bra prings"!

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Bodysuits
Whenever your Mum tells you "Don't buy that, trends go in and out of style all the time!", you can now easily retort "Mum, haven't you noticed trends have been recycling lately?" ... or well, that's what I've been telling my Mum at least! I've covered many, many trends originally popular in the 60s, 70s and 80s which have come back in style now, and well, this week we're going to take a look at yet another 80s trend - the bodysuit, or the leotard!

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Tie Dye
The savviest fashionistas out there will definitely be aware of the reemergence of fashion trends from the 70s and 80s beginning with - of course - leggings coming back in style, baggy t-shirts, shoulder pads, fringe, and military jackets among many others. This week, we’re going to be taking a look at yet another hot 70s trend blazing a trail on the fashion runways of Spring/Summer 2010 – tie-dye!

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Chantilly Lace
When I mentioned ‘Chantilly lace’ to a lot of my female friends, I was met with blank stares. After whipping out my cellphone and Google-ing photos to show them, I was then greeted with a resounding “Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” chorus. I bet many if not all of you readers out there have seen Chantilly lace before, and well, to put a face to the name, let’s take a look at the very common, very ‘right now’ trend of Chantilly lace!

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Macramé
Originating from 13th century Arab, macramé is a form of textile making using the knotting technique rather than knitting or weaving. According to sources, macramé was originally used by sailors to decorate anything - from knife handles to parts of the ships. This particular technique has, of course, like many before it, trickled down to the fashion industry and seems particularly big for SS10!

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Side-Shaved Hairstyle
Hair is one of those many things women constantly obsess over. It’s not long enough, it’s not short enough, or it’s not the right colour or the right style – there’s always something wrong. Too flat, too bushy, whatever it is, good hair days are rarer than an Hermes Birkin bag and bad hair days are most unfortunately as common as a Petaling Street Louis Vuitton knock-off purse. So here’s an idea: why not shave it off?

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Slogan Tees
Slogan tees were so cool a few years back when it was customary to display a funny message written across your t-shirt. The trend died down for many years as the generation which grew up with them slowly grew older, and the more classy fashionable set declared them uncool – who wants to go around with words all over your chest, advertising a brand? But hey, it looks like the trend is back in full-swing again! What do you think, witty or tacky?

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Fringed Boots
The thing about fashion is the endless repeating cycles it runs through! We’ve seen the comeback of a lot of 70s and 80s trends ranging from headbands to leather and studs, and now the hippy chick look seems to be back in full swing with the emergence of fringe boots since Fall/Winter 2008. Personally, I’m not that big on this trend as it’s bordering slightlytoo 1960s Woodstock for me, but what do you think?

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Studs
There's no denying that one of the hottest trends of the moment is studs. The studded look has been incorporated into everything - bags, clothes, shoes, even sunglasses, and it seems there is no end to the love affair with these little embellishments.

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Sequinned Hot Pants
As you fashionistas probably already know, sequins are in – and in a big way. We’re bringing back the glitz and glamour of the 80s with sequins and beading on everything, so what do you think of sequinned hot pants? A great way to draw attention to that spankin’ booty you’ve spent hours working on in the gym, or too go-go-girl trashy for your taste?

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Fringe
Touted the 'Pocahontas' look, fringe has been present on the runways to high street stores and our favourite boutiques much more of late. At first, it was infused on dresses and bags, as seen for Miu Miu and Prada in 2007 and Tod's in 2008. After the obvious welcome many in the fashion world gave it, fringe started to adorn scarves, shoes, and even leggings. It also evolved to being longer, wilder, and bolder in terms of colour and materiel. We've been keeping our eyes open for this trend for ages now, and even wrote a post about it before when we spotted some great DIYed ones on Lookbook.

Trend-Talk-Tuesdays: Mesh
From mesh watch straps to mesh shoes and mesh dresses, what exactly does the mesh trend mean? What does the word ‘mesh’ encompass, even? Well, according to the dictionary, mesh simply means a material made of a network of wire or thread; the spacing of strands in a material. Click to view how mesh has taken over the fashion scene in recent months!
