Icon of the Week: Plasterdoll

Filed In Blog by claudia | Comments: 0 | Views: 154

One of the bigger trends we've seen this year thus far was appreciation for the model minority. Model standards were thrown out the window to embrace individuality; every age, colour, gender, shape and size. Today's icon of the week falls within the model other category - she is in fact a paperdoll aspiring to be an international supermodel. Hailing from Malaysia, everybody, I'd like you to meet Plasterdoll.

DIY: Ribbon Frills Top

The Tudor inspired ruffs might have a second coming! But instead of the stiff, exaggerated, pleated neckbands from that era, we're talking about something a little more feminine and simple. So for today's DIY, might I introduce to you the romantic frilly collar? You can use just about any kind of ribbon or blouse of your choice, just see how after the jump.

Fashion News from Around the World

Growing up, I admired Batman had his utility belt where his crime-fighting gadgets were kept. Erik Nelsen of Hurt Couture must have felt similarly for he has designed a range of accessories that double as a self-defense weapon. Sharp belt buckles double as daggers in today's bizarre (but useful) fashion news. Also making the news is Karlie Kloss on Gossip Girl, Ksubi does eyewear and Keith Haring for Nicholas Kirkwood.

Beauty Bank: Strip, Bangsar (MY)

My mother ingrained into me the conservative Chinese belief to always keep my legs close. "Afterall we wouldn't want to "open the coffee shop" to just anyone, right?", was her reasoning. As a result, my  figurative coffee shop had only my amateur efforts when it came to maintainence. Looking for a facelift (in all sense of the word, as you will soon find out), I turned to Strip, the Ministry of Waxing. I figured the company who is responsible for revolutionising the wax culture in Asia would be a safe haven in which I can commence the inaugural parting of the thighs and I was right.

Just-For-Fun Friday: RIP Kate Moss for Topshop

Filed In Blog by claudia | Comments: 3 | Views: 773

When Topshop opened its first Kate Moss collection to the public in 2007, I, like many of you dear readers, lined up outside KLCC well before opening hours to receive it. I remember the time too - Kate Moss had been spearheading the comeback of Annie Hall, promised a line that would evoke just that, and Topshop was going to bring the designer collaboration to our shores. Pardon my weakness for nostalgia, but when it was announced that the next collection would be their last together, I saw it as the end of an era. Let's talk about that for today, just for fun!
