  1. Shu Uemura Tokyo Lash Bar 2009

Posted by Claudia Low on July 16, 2009

When you think falsies, shu uemura comes to mind straight away. Most false lashes aficionados will readily claim that Tokyo Lash Bar is the place to go for the best of all sorts of lashes – from natural to complete avant garde. Last week, TiC was invited to check out the unveiling of shu uemura’s Tokyo Lash Bar collection for 2009; consisting of a range of eight embellishing eyelashes depicting forces of nature.

With a team of reputable independent makeup artists who call themselves Black Book Artists, they use shu uemura products for their artistic breakthroughs – which was exhibited that day.

These lashes were crafted by shu uemura’s in-house team of artistic directors and makeup artists, then explored by the independent Black Book Artists specially for the showcase.

Here are the looks featured for the day:

Taisu’s Oasis; a gorgeous display of colour in an otherwise bland desert.

Stevensunny’s The Queen of The Forest, capturing mystical highlights and emphasizing glistening hues.

Sheng’s Flight of the Peacock, epitomizing nature’s class and beauty.

Surya’s Snow Witch; a cool effect of dramatic frosty hues.

Najeeb’s Endless Beauty of Earth; reminiscent of Mother Nature’s delicate creations.

Emma’s The Dramatic Bloom; an extravagant bouquet of peonies.

Chufan’s Blinding Blizzard; a dramatically feminine winter wonderland.

During the showcase, these looks were fitted into outfits by Villiam Ooi.

Knowing full well that we probably wouldn’t find these lashes appropriate for everyday wear, shu uemura then showcased a more subtle collection of wearable lashes applied by their Accredited Artists, then paired up with Melinda Looi gowns.

And never one to be anything short of extravagant, shu uemura hosted dramatic dance routines as intervals.

We loved the little ballerinas that were made up so prettily!

Then came the tokens of appreciation. Now, I won’t guide you through each designer, make up artist and model receiving their gifts, but here’s an group shot that came right after the ceremony.

Personally, I was greatly entertained by the show. But that’s because I was standing right in front to get a clear view for my pictures! Most of the other guests couldn’t see anything the whole show because they were all packed like a can of sardines, which was such a shame!

But since you got a firsthand look on what went down during the showcase, what do you think of the creations? Which is your favourite? For a more comprehensive gallery of the event, click here. But hold your comments; take a look at some of the guests present that day:
