Applying a toner may be an easy breezy business for many, but what do you do when it comes to essence waters? Many women often wonder, “What is the difference between a toner and an essence water?” Let us break it down for you:
Toner
- Has a light and thin texture.
- Balances skin pH after washing (face wash is alkaline).
- Removes traces of dirt, makeup or cleanser that may not have been removed during the wash.
- Leaves skin slightly moist to make the most out of your moisturizer.
Essence Water
- It can function as a toner.
- Thicker in texture.
- Tend to have increased hydrating, brightening and other treatment properties.
- It can double as a pre-moisturiser serum.
- Very oily skins in humid weather may enjoy wearing it alone as a hydrator.
So how do you apply essence water?
Contrary to popular belief and advertisements, splashing a handful of essence on your face isn’t the best way to apply it. You’ll get uneven application and you’ll miss out on the micro exfoliating factor your cotton pad will provide during application. The last thing you want is wasting product by letting it evaporate off dead skin cells.
We recommend using a good quality cotton pad. Soak cotton pad with at least a 50sen coin sized amount.
Hold cotton across the widest part of your fingers. Wipe cotton pad across face as highlighted on our lovely model below.
Do use firm pressure when apply the essence soaked cotton on face to maximize exfoliating and brightening effects.
Don’t use teensy weeny amounts of product. It will be a complete waste of product and money because there isn’t enough to do the job. Imagine brushing your teeth with a pin drop of toothpaste!
Don’t rub cotton harshly across face.
