  1. DIY: Homemade Chocolate Lip Scrub

Posted by Liyana Sobri on May 31, 2013

Chapped lips – unattractive, hard to kiss, and often times, pretty painful. But before you balance out your diet with a tumbler of water and a good dose of fruit and greens, you need to scrub, remove and loosen up any dead skin. Here’s an easy, all-natural, and delicious way how!

    You’ll need:
+ 2 teaspoons sugar (either brown or white)
    + 1 teaspoon honey
    + 1/4 teaspoon olive oil / Vaseline
    + 1/4 teaspoon cocoa powder
+ A drop of vanilla essence
    + Container for mixing
+ A jar to store your scrub

Start off by mixing sugar with honey. Then, add cocoa powder and olive oil. Olive oil is packed with moisture – if you don’t have olive oil at your disposal, Vaseline works just as well. Or if you have both, feel free to add them together for a double moisturising effect. Then, add a drop of vanilla essence for a luxe-flavoured scent. And voila, you’ve got your very own lip scrub, ready in less than 10 minutes. Plop this heavenly chocolatey scrub into a jar (make sure it’s airtight so you can store it up for to two weeks) and you’re ready to give your lips a scrub-a-dub-dub.

Apply a ten cent coin amount of scrub and rub it onto your lips. Leave it on for a minute or two to soften up dead cells, before scrubbing your lips down with light pressure and rinsing well with warm water. Then, apply some lip balm to soothe and hydrate those puckers.
