1. Icon of the Week: Wonderbra

Since you all enjoyed the C-String so much, I thought it'd be fitting to complete the set by focusing on the Wonderbra this week. Now before you think I'm on a mission to cheapen Tongue in Chic, I ought to reassure you that I'll be emphasizing more on the history, development, marketing and advertising that eventually led to Wonderbra becoming a universal substitute for the word - pushup bra!

  2. TiC Pick: Pleated d’Orsay Pumps

Personally, I've never been a heels kind of girl, which I think my daddy's wallet appreciates very much. In fact, I only own one pair of heels. However, there are a few select pairs I adore and love to look at as works of art, rather than a mere accessory. One of them, is the Christian Louboutin Armadillo peep toe platforms.

  3. Just-for-Fun Fridays: C-Strings

Early this week, I must admit I had quite the chuckle when I opened my inbox to read about c-strings for the first time. I had to immediately tell a friend about it, describing it as a one-sided ear muff that supposedly works better than a g-string in terms of concealing VPLs! I then proceeded to doing a little more research to tell y'all all about it! Just for fun, on this lovely Friday, read on!

  4. Icon Of The Week: Irving Penn

Edit: Irving Penn passed away on October 7, 2009; just a month after we wrote this post :(
I'm not quite sure if you've heard just yet, but today's a very special day (090909 and all)! And quite coincidentally, the person I'm featuring this week is pretty special too - he's the first man TiC inaugurates as an fashion icon! Meet Irving Penn. You might know him as the husband of the world's first supermodel, Lisa Fonssagrives, or as one of the world's most celebrated fashion photographers. Either way, we're focusing on him for producing so many images we regard as iconic today!

  5. Just-for-Fun Fridays: Pale VS Baked

Vacationing at this time of year was a silly thing for me to do. With much thanks to the indecisive weather we've been having, my tan turned out to be a dull grey. The sort of achromatic ashen you'd get right before your beef is cooked. So here I am, left with this grey matter that's neither a tan, nor my regular fair. Which got me thinking. Which led me to our Just For Fun Friday this week: how do you like your skin; pasty or well done?

  6. Icon of the Week: Cartier Love Bracelet

In the summer of 1969, a (then young, now late) Cartier staff designer, Aldo Cipullo, created a bracelet that would eventually become one of the world's most famous status symbols of our age, and the most coveted and celebrated wrist ornament - The Love Bracelet. We take you through its inspiration (a chastity belt!), the movie stars that wore them (like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton), to the current celebs that adorn them.

  7. Got X, Got Friends Contest

Have you submitted your picture for the Got X, Got Friends contest yet? We've highlighted the contest in the past but if you've been procrastinating, let me remind you that Xpax is giving away some awesome freebies like an Xbox 360, Blackberry Storm and a limited edition Celcom broadband MTV World Stage modem. You just have to be one of the 15 most creative photos of the week. I was looking at the huge picture wall on the website (scoping out the competition!) and a couple of snapshots caught my eye.

  8. TiC Pick: Layered Tanks

Way back in 2007, I remember coming across this gorgeous layered Marc by Marc Jacobs tank in some Teen Vogue fashion spread. I then patiently awaited for it to come to our shores, but it never did. Or maybe I missed it. Either way, it wasn't hanging in my closet by the end of the season. And I got over it just fine, that is, until anything shredded, layered and texturized came high into fashion this year.

  9. TiC Tunes: La Roux

Ever heard of La Roux? If you haven't, I think it's high time you do, because I have a feeling we'll be hearing and seeing a lot of them in the coming years. La Roux is a British electropop duo made up of the artiste Elly Jackson, and writer-producer Ben Langmaid. But since Elly Jackson takes up all the limelight and recording time, La Roux is often perceived as a solo act.

  10. Just-for-Fun Fridays: Shoe Vending Machines

Early this year, Joyce and I heard about the concept of using vending machines to dispense comfortable alternatives for when you've reached your stiletto pain threshold. Just this week, I received news that the concept is now everyday practice in the UK, and I just had to share it with you! Fingers crossed, I hope Rollasoles come to our side of the globe!
