Boutique: Paperdoll

Filed In Places by claudia | Comments: 12 | Views: 1654

Fairly new to the online boutique scene, Paperdoll has been popping up on browsers since last September. Within a month, it was offered a lot in Tropicana City Mall and opened a physical boutique by late December 2008. Talk about fast!

If you're familiar with the online boutique version, you'll come to find that Paperdoll boutique is literally the pop-up version of its website. It looks like a walk-in closet with cupboards and shelves in paper white wood.

Majority of items sold are dresses, with the rest of the selection being bags, accessories, tops and corsets. Everything is either washed in pastel colours or decked with floral prints.

Paperdoll is cosy and incredibly personalised. Owner Joanna Saw has a shelf especially for her personal items and even keeps a pet hamster in the store! While adorable, that hamster is incredibly ferocious, so don't take Paperdoll for a petting zoo!

Joanna pays great attention to her customers, treating everyone like an old friend. When I tried something on, she actually told me not to get it because it made my broad shoulders look unflattering. Now you know somewhere where you can go shopping alone and get an honest opinion at the same time!

I'm not sure if it was the owner who was at the counter when i visited the boutique but she was so arrogant and did not even bother greeting my friends and i when we walked in, she was just reading her papers/magazines the whole time while we were in the shop. that left a bad impression on me no matter how pretty the clothes there are.

Yup it was her, and guess what if you and your snobby friends hadn't been such beotches, I am pretty sure whoever was behind the counter would have been nicer. Remember, your own actions beget other people's reactions. So stop being a beotch and grow up. Also, learn that people can track you and find out that you too have an online blog and are just trying to sabotage a small growing business Michelle.

Oh so you're the one with your 'friends'. If you want Sungai Wang service you should really head on to Sungai Wang. Cause at least there they won't let you you mess around with their clothes for 'fun' and then just dump them on the counter and leave. Now that was not cool Michelle.

Michelle, you must have given some sort of attitude to have made her ignore the crap out of you. Really, you don't own the place, so the next time you walk into a boutique, instead of strutting your butt about like you own it, be nice. Oh and if this is sabotaging .. good luck. The clothes really are that pretty.

I have never had anything but a truly enjoyable experience at Paperdoll. Joanna is always friendly, lovable and helpful with frank opinions and fantastic taste. But hey she's human like all of us and on some days, you just want to read your magazine and let idle browsers intent on messing up your displays be damned.

I've been to Paperdoll a few times and Joanna's been nothing but nice to me and other customers who happen to walk-in while I'm there. Plus I like that she value-adds to your purchase by letting you know if what you buy/try-on is suitable for you or not. I'd recommend Paperdoll to all my girlfriends just on the basis of the style selection available at the boutique alone.

I visited the store today and was so so happy with the 'personal shopper' aka Joanna. She made me feel so good and her opinions are so appreciated. even my boyfriend was so impressed with her style of greeting people. She made a really good impression. I would go back again to this shop for sure. Keep up the good work paperdoll and Joanna.. xoxo.

Joanna's a really friendly and helpful person, and my girlfriend's nuts enough about her and the shop to bring her entire family over just to look at the clothes. Great clothes, frank advice, and lots of really funky/interesting things to look at (for the bored boyfriends ^_^;;), what more could a shopper want?

Hey girls, I apologize that my negative comment caused so much "anger" in your girls. The comment was merely my true experience. I don't know what impression i might have given the girl behind the counter even before i walked in because i was ignored that very moment till the moment i left, and frankly am quite shocked at the "blank" accusations made by some of you. Bella, what trying clothes and dump at the counter? I did not even touch her stuff and please, Why on earth would i want to sabotage paperdolls. Sabotaging this way? LoL! Well, i'll learn to keep my feedback to myself in future. Thanks.

Hey "michelle" it's Paperdoll, not "paperdolls". And I don't think the ladies here have any "anger" towards "you", just that they find your sort "annoying". I love "Joanna" and "her boutique" and support her 100%! Besides if "I" walked in as if "I" owned the store, I'd deserve to be "ignored". "Grow up".

Meowr. Recession has made us all cut down on our retail therapy eh? Upcycle clothes instead! It's just as therapeutic and you don't have to go all Springer on a blog! :)
