Alexander Wang - Spring 2009
We all love Alexander Wang for his urbanized effortless looks. For his New York Spring 2009 runway show, he left a composition notebook on the seat of every invited guest. Perhaps he hoped they would take notes on his solidified arrival on a scene. Wang has become a successful ready-to-wear translator of the downtown archetype.

He states, "My girl hardly every changes." And for his many admirers, that's a good thing. Audience enjoyed the sights of Wang's signature separates, strategically-fitted Beatrice winners, minis, and pastel jackets.

You may find this surprising after a Fall collection done almost entirely in black! "They wanted colour, they got colour!" Wang declared a few days before his show.

For the young designer, Wang is determined to move forward, and is definitely heading there with his new shoe collection and a diffusion line of T-shirts called T. Believe it or not, the imaginary muse for his Spring show is a sexy, devil-may-care sort who would play basketball in a dress. His real-life muse however - Erin Wasson - has styled Wang's previous shoots before (before the stylist job got turned over to Alastair McKimm).

Not to disappoint his fans, even with the infusion of brighter, more body-conscious looks, Wang's familiar grunge girl was still very much present — e.g.: pierced and fringed black leather platform sandals.
