Animals Of The Fashion Forest

Filed In Fashion by yushan | Comments: 6 | Views: 892

I have always been fascinated by the way fashion illustrators are able to capture the overall feel of a garment into a still drawing, so I was naturally drawn to Fashion Forest/Métissage Couture the minute I clicked through the site.

Her quirky renderings of runway looks are seriously too adorable for words! If you observe closely, you can really see which looks the artist is referring to. Now let us embark on a side by side comparison:

All fashion illustrators have their own distinct theme and style, and Fashion Forest is no different - with "fashion-na-nimal" families residing in the Animal Kingdom. It's interesting how she manages to grace the character of a wild animal with the poise of high fashion.

If you've been frequenting particular arts and flea markets, you would have noticed Fashion Forest's presence there as framed artworks of a few sizes are displayed for sale at RM40 and above.

You'd be interested to know that Fashion Forest will be at Youth '09 till this Sunday, so there's your chance to have a looksee at the art (and artist) in person!

Hi all,
Thanks for the review and comments. You might want to flip back on how I started the Fashion-na-nimal Darlings. I started with the illustrations and then only the paper dolls. Nope. I just discovered fifi lapin's bunny recently and pardon me for not knowing she's been around earlier. Anyway..thanks for the comments and appreciate that.

Personally I felt it is totally diffrent style of DURA and FIFI drawing and art pieces..It is just like saying every rabbit seem alike and same goes to melody(hello kitty 's friend). If u notice and observe properly, tis 2 have 2 diffrent way of presenting their art..and totally it is north and south.
Just my personal opinion.no offend to anyone.thanks.
Dura, continue your dream and i like your paperdoll:) it is so dolly:)

not only is the style of her 'fashion bunnies' similar to the original FIFI fashion bunnies (perhaps bunnies/cats figures wearing high fashion is just en vogue), her ink/paint splattered pieces look very uncanny to a lot of julie verhoeven fashion illustrations. the same drugged, unfocused eyes and lashes, the same watercolour smears and sexual innuendoes, except julie's looks a lot more organic and 'fine art'.

http://www.showstudio.com/projects/035/035_interactive.html just look at this and compare it to dura's http://www.flickr.com/photos/metissage/3358130215/ or http://www.flickr.com/photos/metissage/2979771979/
