VARIANTE
Malaysian brand VARIANTE may have been around since 2005, but it just celebrated the official launch of its Pavilion store this month. VARIANTE, meaning "variations" in Italian, was started by Leslie Variyan who formerly headed Isetan Women's in-house labels. "Cultivation" and "Crescendo" are a couple of brands that were under his creation and direction during his tenure there.

After two decades in the fashion industry, Leslie was prompted to create a line of his own, targeting at dynamic and energetic women with three requirements in mind when it comes to their wardrobe - flexible, functional, and fashionable.

Hence the birth of VARIANTE. The brand took residence in Avenue K in January 2005 and (after the gradual decrease of consumer traffic and demise of business there...) later moved to the 1st Floor in Isetan KLCC. In time, it spread its business wings to Robinsons The Gardens, and Pavilion KLCC. Some pictures of their Pavilion store:

When asked what his favourite pieces are in the collection, Leslie replied, "The colourful kaftans with diamantes." (Pictured above.) Being a fan of bold prints and colour, I took a fancy to the button-up chiffon dress with cracked graphics in coral and brown (below).

How it looks like on a model:

VARIANTE has pieces which are more mature and classic, with sizes that accomodate plus-size women as well. They're made locally with fabrics which are sourced from Italy, Japan and India.

VARIANTE is priced from RM59 to RM659 and can be found at:
