Prim, Yes. Prim & Proper? No…
Cutting edge and indie, Prim Magazine is of the knock-your-socks-off variety. As you flip the pages electronically and discover new artists, new fashionistas, and new sites you’ve never even heard of, you start to wonder why you never stumbled upon them earlier! Well, that is Prim’s specialty, digging up talents that are so new so quickly, that you don’t even have time to say “hot off the press”. They not just interview burgeoning fashionistas, designers, photographers, and musicians; they also have DIY tutorials and film reviews; hell, they even shoot their own editorials! And guess what. Here comes the shocker - Prim Editor/Founder Kristin is 14 years of age. Yep, they’re getting younger and younger.

Well, in this case youth has brought to the magazine (I feel so old writing this even though I’m only 17…) a raw-edged quality that lends it the appeal that sets it apart from other internet publications. For example, their ‘Editor’s Note’ in the April/May 2008 Issue signs off with "peace out y’all" and had a postscript that reads: "The second issue is dope; or dope-r depending on the dope factor of this dope issue."
The same devil-may-care attitude is perpetuated amongst the remaining pages, a confidence that leads us to believe that the magazine will stay to its true colours and cover social issues that truly matter without succumbing to commercial influences, something one cannot say for more established magazines such as Vogue or Elle. There is no pressure here to showcase anyone in particular so they just pick the best, unbiased. The best thing? The youth factor doesn’t detract from maturity, essential for insight into the arts or film.

Yep, go read it… get inspired. They’ve just introduced the print version of Prim. What’s next? World domination at 15?
