Levi’s® X Damien Hirst
By: Elaine Tan
For those unfamiliar with the name Damien Hirst, he's a British post-modern artist whose most recent infamous work includes a diamond-encrusted life-size cast platinum human skull that fetched a cool $100 million.
He's also well known for his art pieces of a real cow and lamb, neatly sliced to exhibit their innards. Decadent, eccentric, and shocking; this is the second time Levi's has chosen Hirst to collaborate with them on a limited edition collection. His first collection was a tribute to renowned pop artist, Andy Warhol, working with designer Adrian Nyman to create pieces of wearable art - a concept he is strongly enthusiastic about. He offers his latest marriage between his exorbitantly priced art and affordable jeans staple brand Levi's as a "way a lot of people get to own my stuff and in a not too precious way.”

His latest Fall 2008 line for Levi's focus predominantly on three main designs, which are recurring themes in his artwork as well (don't worry, not cow organs) - spots, tropical butterflies and skulls.

Skulls

Spots

Butterflies

Skulls and butterflies… I did mention it was a recurring theme right?
High Snobiety has the entire collection for your viewing pleasure.
If you’re a fan of Hirst's work, the Levi’s® X Damien Hirst collection will be available at selected Levi’s retailers around the world starting October 2008.
