Ugly For Beauty @ Cynna

If you’re from Taylor’s College, you’ve probably heard of “Ugly For Beauty Campaign, Looks Matter, Life Too”. If you haven’t, where have you been!
This campaign is aimed to debunk the idea of “beauty” as defined by clever marketing, celebrity endorsement, the rich and the famous. It began as part of course work several semesters ago, and has blossomed into a dynamic campaign. The “Ugly for Beauty Campaign” was officially launched on the 3rd of September with a series of fun activities which included paintball and treasure hunts.

A couple of weeks ago, traffic info reported “Jalan Sultan Ismail is on a bumper to bumper crawl” as I rushed my way to Cynna Bar on Asian Heritage Row. Being early, I took the liberly of parking my car right in front of the club. :)

I was taken around the bar and introduced to the program director of School of Communication, Miss Josephine Tan. The time strikes 8 pm as she gives her speech on the campaign, before the mic is taken over by Project Director Asha Ragnu for her turn.

Melissa Suciati performed Christina Aguilera's Beautiful as the bar started getting packed. I was really looking forward to the fashion show but it was very difficult to take photos when it's done in a bar. Even the pro-photographers said so. Nevertheless, I salute the students cum models who took part in the show voluntarily.

The fashion show finished and continued with performances by Caprice, Fusion, Dice and Nick Davis.

The night ended around 10:30 pm, and Cynna's DJs took over after that to pump up the volume. For more pictures of the Ugly for Beauty Campaign, visit the gallery here.
