Of Vanity and Vices

If you've been snooping around cult boutiques in Singapore, you'd realise that several of them hold really great accessories. Boutiques that fashion enthusiasts often frequent - such as Blackjack, Epitome, Ztamp, Antipodean, and Baylene Fashion Gallery - all hold necklaces from trendy accessories label, Vice and Vanity.
Like art, their creations seem to have a story behind each design. The first time I set eyes on the Anja necklace in Ztamp boutique, I mulled over it for a supremely long time, deciding on what the story was behind a necklace. It's definitely not an accessories label where you flap your hands and decide that it's pretty much boring, because of the thought process that goes on behind the design of each item. I can't leave a store without fingering these necklaces lovingly, head home and obsess over them somemore on the Internet. Let's take a look at some of their bestsellers, shall we?

This Nada necklace, from their "One, Two" collection, is one of Vice and Vanity's expressive pieces. Elegant yet bold, this one is set to capture the hearts of women who are looking for a touch of daredevilry to set off their feminine outfits.

The Brissa collar necklace (from their "The lamp spreads a circle of light" collection) is simple, yet exudes an edgy chic. The clean, fuss-free design belies its ability to match any outfit. In fact, I think the Brissa is pretty unisex.

The Anja collar necklace (from their "The lamp spreads a circle of light" collection) is a great piece, in my opinion. With a touch of pearl and fabric, it seems to symbolise a bird taking flight. In any case, my outfit will definitely take flight with a piece like this!

This Sofia necklace (from their "The lamp spreads a circle of light" collection) really captures my fancy as well. The clever play of rounded curves and colour between monotones caught my attention. In my childish way of perceiving art, it looks like a cloud bursting with raindrops. My immature artistic thoughts may not be what the designer wanted to portray, but still, I'd love to put this on with a sky blue dress on a cloudy day!
All of their designs are one-of-a-kind, and I haven't seen anything like that on any other site. A good mix of metal, wood, and plastic, each necklace promises to add that extra dash of 'oomph' into an outfit - which is perfect if you're having a class presentation and a dinner date afterwards, or a corporate meeting and a girl's night out in the same day.
Just slip on one of these necklaces from Vice and Vanity, and you're truly set for a wild night out! The label is stocked in various countries, such as Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Spain, UK and USA. You'll be able to find their items stocked in Singapore in the following boutiques: Blackjack, Epitome, Ztamp, Antipodean, COL:LAGE and Baylene Fashion Gallery.
