Blooming Flowerdrum
By: Eleanor Ng

With the growth of Etsy lovers comes a demand for all things ingeniously handmade. Fashionistas worldwide are on a major hunt for personalized garments, quirky designer accessories, and of course, fabric handbags. Hence, if you are a true aficionado of this creative movement, Flowerdrum would be a familiar scribble on your shopping list.

A meek homegrown brand that first began its public expansion in 1997, Flowerdrum designer Rina Matsui-Houghton is far from accustomed to the fame that has followed her iconic pink and white lady since. By offering exclusivity via affordability, the bags are created with its loyal customers in mind. Flowerdrum bags are divided into two collections: the Deluxe range carries styles made from vintage fabrics, while the Tropical range derives from modern florals. Both collections create a playful mix of prints and patterns, while the attention to style is pleasantly designed by versatility. In fact, most Flowerdrum bags are reversible a.k.a. cost efficient!

While Flowerdrum may currently be based in Berlin, the label carries itself around town like a trigger-happy personality. It pops up every now and then in bazaars such as the recent Urbanscapes, and it also launched its online boutique (yay!) this month. Flowerdrum can also be found at the following stockists:
