Fernando Brizio’s renewable clothing
By: Evevon
If like me, you struggle to make decent conversation at a dinner party or *fill in your own social activity here* at the end of a very long day then this is the dress for you. It was conceptualised by Fernando Brizio as part of the “flexibility - design in a fast-changing society” show, and features a dress that changes its appearance over a period of time.

By placing coloured felt-tip pens in the pockets of this dress, the ink bleeds into the fabric and creates one-off pieces for the wearer within an hour to one and a half hours. Talk about a conversation starter.
Although not quite Hussein Chalayan…
… but fun nevertheless. While Brizio’s installation was titled “Renewable Clothing”, I agree with one of the commentors on the page that we tend to think of renewable as something eco friendly and perhaps his project isn’t quite as eco friendly as it could be. But he definitely hit the mark with the flexibility theme of the show. Because the ink can be washed off with water, you can work on different pockets and constantly experiment with different colours creating monochromed looks, rainbow-friendly themes or even just a border around the hem. A different pattern every time and producing a different look which is limited only by your imagination - I foresee this dress banishing our wardrobe woes (albeit temporarily).
Whatever it may be, just don’t spontaneously decide to run in the rain…
