Trend Talk Tuesdays: Bodysuits
Whenever your Mum tells you "Don't buy that, trends go in and out of style all the time!", you can now easily retort "Mum, haven't you noticed trends have been recycling lately?" ... or well, that's what I've been telling my Mum at least! I've covered many, many trends originally popular in the 60s, 70s and 80s which have come back in style now, and well, this week we're going to take a look at yet another 80s trend - the bodysuit, or the leotard!

Known for revealing too much of the female anatomy than we're comfortable with, the bodysuit has (most unfortunately for some), come back into fashion again for spring/summer 2010. My reasoning behind the sudden storm for bodysuits is because this season, bottoms are baggy and loose (think harem pants, paperbag skirts, maxi skirts, etc.) and well, wearing a baggy top with a baggy bottom screams FASHION DISASTER! The tighter, form-fitting leotard gives the female silhouette more curves.

However, this doesn't mean you can prance around town simply in a leotard! The look is strictly reserved for the ultra lithe ultra skinny ballet dancers among us. Leotards and bodysuits are worn as a substitute for tube tops/tank tops, and with lace bodysuits being all the rage now, they're a more interesting and appealing alternative.

I personally believe the person who brought bodysuits back in style is none other than one of the biggest trend-setters herself: Lady GaGa! Check out her outrageous bodysuits!

Let's take a look at how these stylish fashionistas wear their bodysuits!

* From L-R: Blackburn and Sweetzner / The Sartorialist / Childhood Flames / Garance Dore

* From L-R: Emily Amelia Inglis / Fauxshionable / Sea of Shoes / Jayne T.
Unfortunately we don't seem to be able to find any blogshops which currently stock bodysuits/leotards -- does anyone have any ideas? There's always American Apparel if you're desperate!
