Forever 21 flagship store opens at 313 Somerset, Singapore

As if Singaporeans needed more reason to be the cause of envy for avid shoppers in Malaysia, the newly opened Forever 21 flagship store at 313 Somerset spans 4 levels over 16,000sqft. That means items like florals, accessories, shoes (see rockthetrend.comto catch a glimpse of the range in-store) and lingerie have their own specially designated sections. Just in time for some neat holiday shopping! Be sure to take a break from the visual delights on the floor and note chandeliers hanging above if you're visiting the store.

Philippines and Tokyo get a boost of high and street fashion

Lest you think that Singapore is the only Asian country getting in on the store opening action, let it be known that Philippines and Tokyo will also receive a raise in international fashion appeal. French fashion house Hermès is set to open their first boutique on Pinoy ground at Greenbelt 3 Mall in Manila. Be warned because early news reports claim that the items are selling at twice the US pricetag. Up north, Tokyo becomes the first Asian store to experience an Abercrombie & Fitch store. Since the Japanese are never one to understate their shopping extravagance, the A&F store in Ginza will span a whopping 12 levels!

West meets East: Swedish jeans "Made in North Korea"

The creation of NoKo jeans is a triumph of clashing ideals as communism works toward a capitalistic reason. The Swedish brand jeans manufactured entirely in North Korea is created by Kaellstigen, Jakob Ohlsson and Jacob Aastroem who were prompted by a desire to enter in contact with the reclusive communist state. During the creation, the entrepreneurs visited North Korea twice and insisted that the working conditions at their Pyongyang-area factory were good. The jeans, specifically coloured black because blue jeans inspire too much Americana feelgood, are ironically enough banned in the North Korean dress code. North Korea enforces a strict code of ethos in almost all aspects of public life and Kim Jong-Il, the enigmatic leader, recently put a crackdown on "untidy and foreign" hairstyles to avoid imposing an "imperialist" culture in the nation.

2009 Top 10 Model turns down Alexander McQueen show because of 'armadillo' shoes

One of Fashionising's pick for top 10 models in 2009, Abbey Lee Kershaw, admitted to a Australian publication that the reason why big model names like Natasha Poly, Sasha Pivovarova and herself were missing from the runways of Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer'10 collection was because the trio had decided to forego the show after taking one look at McQueen's iconic 'armadillo' shoes. The 12-inch killer heels, most recently seen in Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance' video are certainly a sight to behold and most definitely a pain to walk in. Can we blame a model for just being human?

Lisa Loeb designs a line of eyewear... a decade too late

Lisa Loeb used to be one of pop music's biggest chanteuse back in the 1990s and her signature style of quirky cat-eyed eyewear was often copied by female fans far and wide. Evidently Lisa is not too familiar with the proverb, "strike while the iron is hot" because only now in 2009, a good 10 years after her peak in popularity has she finally decided to release a line of eyewear with Classique Eyewear. Her line will feature frames in her signature look and will be available in stores next spring. Though the inner opportunist is still decrying the missed opportunity, the optimist within points out, "there's no time like the present!
