Beauty Bank: Connie De Alwis
Long-time readers of Tongue in Chic might experience a touch of deja vu upon reading the name Connie De Alwis and with good reason; the exotic name belongs to a makeup maestro who occasionally contributes to Tongue in Chic! You would have most likely seen her helming this feature, previously known as Beauty on Tuesdays, where she delivers much more than a simple brush with beauty. In this week's edition of Beauty Bank, we take a closer look at Connie, who runs Skin Deco, undoubtedly one of Malaysia's most popular beauty websites.

The 22 year old self-described "makeup enthusiast" devotes a lot of energy to reviewing products, comparing brands, creating tutorials and sharing tips and tricks and it all pays off because her site Skin Deco, comes across as very informative and helpful. It's clear that makeup is Connie's passion, and she positively revels in it on her blog!
At Skin Deco, there are over 100 tutorials to teach and inspire, so highlighting just one is a hard task indeed. Connie is rather fearless when it comes to makeup and no colour or shade is off her radar, so her experiments with makeup makes for a fun read!

I found her beauty analysis bits very informative. Simple methods like filling out an eyebrow or proper mascara application is something that isn't usually discussed in public and it speaks volumes about Connie's dedication to the cause that she does not neglect even the littlest things.
The secret to proper mascara application
For those who've ever had issues with eyeshadow application (or maybe I'm just projecting my personal issues), Connie's Eyeshadow 101 tutorials are a great help. She breaksdown different eyeshapes so that once you've figured out which shape you are, basic eyeshadow application will be easier.
After that, she also highlights different methods for applying eyeshadow. I've never realized this before until reading the post but I suppose applying eyeshadow is almost similar to playing a video game. In a game as you progress, you continue to level up and in makeup, the more familiar you are with eyeshadow, the more layers you start adding and blending!
Eyeshadow 101: Application Styles
Connie suffers from eczema so in her makeup adventures she also chronicles what items are good for skin flare-ups. Since eczema seems to be a common skin issue, the post is a great help for those who might need some help in that area.
Life Savers for when Eczema Attacks
Last but not least, makeup can also be good and clean frivolous fun. In a very cheeky post, Connie writes about common makeup faux pas that Asians tend to commit.
Asian Makeup Went Horribly Wrong
Though I'm no makeup whiz myself, I can't help but giggle and nod along at the makeup disasters showcased here!
