Closet Copycat: Alexa Chung
In a nice stroke of cyclical coincidence, perennial British 'It' girl favourite, Alexa Chung who we featured in our first post for our Icon of the Week feature is also the first person featured in our newest feature, Closet Copycat. This merely goes to show just how well-loved Alexa's classic casual chic is across the Tongue in Chic board! In our latest feature we give you suggestions on how to steal a favourite fashionista's look. Today we give you ideas on how you can copy Alexa's look.
Alexa Chung is currently based in New York where she hosts her own chatshow on MTV titled, 'It's On With Alexa'. In an interesting blog feature on MTV, the stylebots at MTV chronicle what Alexa wears on the programme and offers suggestions on how to recreate her look.

The MTV blog does a good job of breaking down Alexa's choice of wear and offering up similar choices from local retailers, however the clothes selected usually continue to remain out of our shopping reach because their local is our international.
Hence, after some surfing online, I found some suitable replacements that would recreate Alexa Chung's look while still retaining some sense of individuality.
This is what Alexa wore during the October 27th screening of her show.

The casual, almost androgynous feel of the jeans and long-sleeved silk top is counterbalanced by Marni heels and quirky socks.
Closer to home, Fab'louz boutique has a similar chiffon shirt with blue trimmings that retails for RM49.90.

Pair the top with black skinny jeans from Little McQueen, RM54.

And finally, top off the look with architectural wedges from Yunique Paradise that have a similar cutout pattern, RM170.

With that, you have a look that's Alexa Chung-inspired but wholly yours!
