Chic POP: Street Market (KL)

We promised you a great weekend and a great weekend you got (or so we hope)! The Chic POP: Street Market happened  over the weekend of the 3rd & 4th of October, and thanks to cool vendors, a great turnout and lively spirits from all camps, the event was one to remember. If you missed out on the Street Market, here's a recap of what went down at Zouk last weekend!

Chic POP: Street Market hosted 50 vendors over the 2-day event and for easier browsing, shopping was divided into themed areas. As for the music, SalahWrong playlists ran in Terrace Bar and Zouk Mainroom, whereas Velvet showcased playlists from Lapsap and Travinia.

Terrace Bar featured four vendors who specialized in vintage and vintage-inspired clothes.

Trendy Confessions boasted a wide selection of vintage-inspired bags that were a hit with the crowd.

Chatter Natter offered sizes up to UK30 for the plus size folk as well as a wide array of accessories.

Vintage Socialites celebrated the high points of fashion of the yesteryear in their collection of vintage clothes for sale.

Our very own Chic Charity was at Terrace Bar where we sold donated clothes with all sales proceeds going to Women's Aid Organization (WAO).

There were tons of free stuff to collect as well in our S.W.A.G. area. Among the items we gave out were Majolica Majorca's Artistic Nail polish and ZA's Pore Smoother & Deep Cleasing Oil. Did you collect your freebie?

Gelato specialists, Lecka-Lecka was right next to the S.W.A.G. area, and the yummy gelato kept temperatures cool during the event.

Upon first entering Zouk's foyer area, itchy fingers, bare arms and necks would have been tempted by the overload of accessories available for sale.

Soak Republic and Minimours offered a selection of one-of-kind rings, headbands, necklaces and bracelets. Trust me, no girl came out unadorned.

Handmade accessories were part of Brollie's repertoire.

Glass Puppet offered clothes for everyday wear as well as some seriously stylish vintage glasses frames.

The Old Blossom Box Store attracted a lot of attention with their candy-coloured clothes and girly accessories for sale.

For some added cool in your room or house, Blok On! was selling their hand-crafted light blocks at the event.

They also carried their one-of-a-kind wooden bib necklaces made out of vintage wallpaper.

Another vendor that was offfering handmade accessories was Itsy Beadsy.

Her intricately windblown handmade pendants certainly made for a unique present!

In Zouk Mainroom - local boutiques, blogshops as well as local and regional designers shared the stage for a mad shopping extravaganza.

Baci was as usual a great stop for funky apparels fit and extras.

Nurita Harith's booth was a treat for fashion lovers. Some of her pieces are made by Nurita herself.

Kitsch are always there to offer fashion addicts unique designs for their fashion fix.

Chic Yamada, if you love colours on cool yet comfortable tees, then we might have bumped into you at the Chic Yamada area.

Calvin Cheong, the man behind AvantGOD and a collection of edgy clothes and accessories.

Shoes lovers stood transfixed at the MNEP booth and here's why....

The talented Justin Yap displyed his skills with intricately made dresses, shoes and necklaces.

TheHeyHeyHey

Bremen Wong was always busy creating new crochet tops while mending his booth.

FunkShop55 offered exactly what it said on their banner - funky and sexy pieces.

Unique slogan tees from HomeTooMuch.com are a great pick in the sea of massed produced factory tees.

Singapore imports, Kang and LHLY were very popular amongst the Malaysian crowd. Half the females at Freeform are toting around chain mail accessories and tie-dyed sock holes now!

Tongue in Chic also featured our very own personally sourced items from Bangkok and Indonesia.

Urban streetwear dominated Velvet. Major brands like Mooks and Lapsap led the charge in edgy clothes although the spotlight was stolen by upcoming blogshops and other vendors selling pre-loved items.

Mooks

Did you remember to collect your free Tongue in Chic X Mooks tote bag  as designed by Ladyesah?

Lapsap

Emmets Garage Sales offered unique footwear (original Doc Marts!), band T-shirts, collectible vinyls, and even pieces from Religion.

Badger proved that this event was not solely for the ladies with their funky T-shirt designs for guys.

Kitschy collectibles from iLoveSnackFood was a big draw amongst the crowd, what with their authentic vintage pencilboxes, cards, and Tokyo Flash watches.

A toilet roll dispenser shaped in an Obama print KFC bucket!

My Favouritees offered pop culture relevant T-shirts and clothes for both guys and girls.

Other vendors that were at Velvet include:

No Plain Days

The IT Girl

ULTRA

UsUsUs Clothing

For those who needed a break from shopping, our manicurist, Chings was there to provide a 'handy' distraction.

And for a brief trek into the mystical and spiritual world, Adrienne our tarot card reader and Selvie and Ishtar, the aura reader and chakra healer respectively provided fascinating insight into our everyday lives, past and present.

Did any of you go for the readings? My aura reading was strangely accurate and correlated with something another fortune teller told me  once before. Freaky stuff!
