Neue Sunday Activity
By: Joyce
An hour of yesterday afternoon was spent trolling in Wondermilk at Damansara Uptown as they were holding the Neue Format Design Mart, a collaborative effort between the Wondermilk and Kraftgrafik peeps. I say ‘mart’ with care as they disclaimed that it was neither a flea market, bazaar, nor exhibition. Rather, a selection of local designer wares being sold in the cafe along with their well-known Cuppacakes, drinks, snacks and one-day-only set meals.
Many designer bits and bobs for sale caught the eye and lightened the purse.
A smack of jellyfish sold cutesy plastic bead art accessories, felt animal badges, mirrored pendants, and even scrabble letter necklaces.

It’s safe to say that their plastic bead art accessories were the first around KL before the sale of others in separate art and flea markets.

I’M NOT JUNK notebookes with bubble wrap and sponge covers.

Syem’s super BADges he cut out of wood himself were for sale.

On the left are the ’superBADge’ series whereas the ‘Bite Me Badge’ series (RM25 each) are to the right. If you haven’t already put together, Syem is also responsible for the wooden works of art that are the logos for Tea & Sympathy, Cuppacakes, a smack of jellyfish and finders keepers.

Finders keepers, who have a permanent spot in Wondermilk in the form of a cupboard-full of dresses, had an additional rack of apparel next to it for sale as well.

The dresses ranged from RM15-RM100 (excl. 30% discount). I snagged myself a summery halterneck Supre dress for RM15. What a steal!

If you’ve been going to the Lap Sap Junk Sales, you won’t be a stranger to Kraftgrafik’s unconventional accessories that comprise of old school nametags (with words like ‘X-Ray Love Machine’ and ‘Disco Pop’ on them!), airmail envelope purses, and vinyl record bags.

Flowerdrum also set up shop outside the cafe, exhibiting their kitschy bags and buttons.

Loved their cloth buttons (going at RM10-RM12 each) and loved my self control even more for not buying one.
