Nicholas Kirkwood @ On Pedder
It is almost inarguably true that every girl has a soft spot for shoe-shopping - be it flats, flip-flops, heels, sneakers, boots, or wellingtons even, and we are most definitely not ashamed of our foot fetish. :) If you, like us, love your footwear to look like pieces of art, then you're going to enjoy the pictures to come in this post! Today, we'll be taking glimpses into the world of genius Nicholas Kirkwood.
With a design background from Central Saint Martins and Cordwainers College; young, London-based Nicholas Kirkwood commenced his own shoe line in 2005. Kirkwood's designs have always been about garnishing women's feet with class, a little bit of seduction, a fair bit of sculpture, and a whole lot of height boost.
He consistently and cleverly incorporates alluring silhouettes, bold colours and dramatic use of materials in his heels designs in such a maverick yet glamorous way that, it is no wonder his collections often whip ladies all around the globe into a state of heels frenzy. And oh, by dramatic materials I mean stingray, lizard, python, water-snake and buffalo horn, very out-of-the-box for footwear right?
Nicholas Kirkwood is perhaps the ideal epitome of future classics. He forgoes decoration for sculpture, he forgoes endearing little bows and kitschy frills for lusciousness, all of which make his trademarks - sculptural platforms and killer heels a true stand-out in the fashion industry.
The good news is, Nicholas Kirkwood Fall/ Winter 2009 collection has now graced the On Pedder store in Singapore, yes you read that right, the wait is officially over ladies :)
