TiC Turns 1!: MNEP + sevendays

Filed In Blog by karen wong | Comments: 8 | Views: 690

MNEP

We first featured MNEP as our Chic Shop back in May and the boutique has continued to capture the public's attention, recently playing host to the latest Green Room session. MNEP is helping us celebrate our birthday with style by offering up one piece of clothing from the store!

This funky Hey Pilgrim asymmetrical top messes with your vision for a cool almost-optical illusion effect! It's size M but we reckon it'd also look good for a size S, think oversize!

To win it, just answer this question, "Describe the party Tongue in Chic would throw for our birthday!" Be it a raging kegger or a hoity-toity tea party, the person with the best answer will take home the MNEP top!

You can answer:
- by commenting on the post here (remember to leave a valid email!)
- on our Twitter (remember to @tictweets)
- by leaving a message on our Facebook fanpage

Contest ends: 12 midnight Monday 14th September 2009

sevendays

sevendays has always ranked highly on our favourite list of Bangsar boutiques and we were so thrilled when they agreed to partake in our birthday celebrations. Do you like shiny pretty things? Well, you're going to love this. We have TWO items from sevendays to give away today!

This M-sized mesh sequinned-front dress can double as a long top and will add sass to any outfit! You can dress it up casually with a fedora and leggings, or wear it on a night out with stiletto heels and dark red lipstick. However you wear it, you can be sure that you'll be the centre of attention wherever you are!

If you favour a bright pop of colour over sequins, feast your eyes on this great hot pink clutch from sevendays! The foldable front opens up to allow lots of room for your little odds and ends.

Both these great gifts are available for the two with the best answers to this question: "If you worked in TIC, what would you change about the site/what would you add to it?"

Fill out the answer:
- on our Twitter (remember to @tictweets)
- by leaving a message on our Facebook fanpage
- emailing us at contest@tonguechic.com (Entitle the email "TiC Turns 1: Sevendays")

If you have a particular gift  you're after, feel free to specify it in your answer. Otherwise we will randomly assign gifts to the victorious two. :)

Contest ends: 12 midnight Monday 14th September 2009

if i worked in TIC, i would also add links to tutorials for make up..there are so many of them on youtube , and we could feature our favourite looks!

i think we should also have a section for people to post their outfits of the day..Due to all the fashion enthusiasts out there, it would be a goldmine for others who are not sure if they can pull off certain looks.

I would also make slight changes in the layout to make it look like a scrapbook to make it look more personal to the readers as if they had entered their private domain of treasured fashion and makeup tips.

There's nothing like a cool TIC's fashion party! It would be all-white and the TIC staff would be wearing white tank tops - with a signature lips and tongue sticking out, white hot white pants/skirts.

There will be a signature TIC cocktail for the night - White Fiesta! - a hint of laici bliss!

There would be popping music all night long, with the coolest spins by a famous DJ, blazing lights and the latest fashions by local designers!

Door gifts would include a range of makeup, clothes, accessories and there would be competitions for some awesome wins!

TIC readers will also get a chance for their 15 minutes of fame by strutting on the catwalk!

What a night it would be! :)

if i work in TiC, i would post up step by step instructions+pictures+videos on DIY stuff. after all, wif d economic recession n d amount of clothes n accesories most girls have, i'm sure we can easily jazz up our old things. makes it easier on our pockets n gives us a sense of achievement while being fashionable - kinda what TiC is about.
and probably do weekly features on ppl's streetwear-simply snap pics of trendy/well dressed ppl u meet on d way to work n let d inspiration begin! =D

If I worked in TIC, I will create a section for everyone to add personal articles which relates to shopping and fashion.

You know what would be absolutely great? A travel page! Not just any travel page. A page that highlights the best shopping destination in the South East Asia!

Basically, it was inspired by a recent TiC post titled "Where to shop in Bangkok?". I thought it was incredibly helpful on my part since i've always wanted to shop in Bangkok but i just don't know anywhere else besides Chatuchak market and Platinum Mall.

In Malaysia, i bet there are great and wonderful places to shop. There are tons of hidden treasures especially in Sabah. I think it's because we tend to focus on shops from major shopping malls. Let's give Malaysian girls more option!

Maybe we should name it, "Travel in Heels"?

If i worked in TIC, I will add another section whereby it is more personal and involves more interaction between the readers and the writers.
At TIC, girls come to learn and know about the fashion industry, the latest make up products and more. But lest we forget that we girls are all growing up as well, and growing up means learning and discovering more and more about ourselves. It would be great to add a section of Q and A whereby both readers and the staff can contribute to. I'm prety sure A LOT of girls are going through questions in their life, from the very basic how to make a good impression or how to get a better figure, to more personal issues that people may be shy of to discuss with their friends. Given an anoynomous identity online, people tend to open up more, discuss these issues, and learn more this way instead of having to open up in front of other people.
It's true that magazines such as cleo and 17 offers Q and A section, and we can see the huge response they get from their readers. How much more greater the response will be if it's done in TIC, a place where all girls log in everyday to catch up with the world outside?
It's great that we can all learn more about the fashion industry, make up products, and the going-on's around.. but it is too important that we not neglect daily issues in life such as relationships, sexual issues that are rather embarassing to be discussed for some people, heart aches and more. These are very common and it happens all the time. A girl can always learn from other girls who goes through the same issues, offering personal advice and opinions. Other than that, girls do encounter a lot of social problems that can be shared with the other readers, this will help open up eyes to the world outside. Jealousy, weight issues, Men problems and health are just some of the very normal problems. who knows there are more? Perhaps this will help both readers and staff as well.
Hope this will be a great idea for TIC!
*ps.Ranty post.my apologies. ;)

If I worked in TiC, I would decorate the site as how I would imagine if I was entering my dream shop. It would be a cosy little site. In different areas of fashion, the background would of course change. Sweet little posts would be pink, outrageous ones would have swirls of colours!

Readers would have a corner to blog short little posts to show the world new stuff they have found or created. A forum would be good too for readers who think alike.

Readers shd also be able to post to the gallery to show the latest threads they're wearing.

The header of TiC can be blown up to dominate the whole header part. It'll look fab ;)another part that can be added is a part for those sporty girls? How to keep make-up on while sweating ? :)
