As much as I love Malaysia's annual sunshine, there are times I wish we were blessed with four seasons instead. Imagine the styling opportunities with a colder climate! Fall/Winter collections during fashion week have less of an impact because we can't totally relate, and that is such a pity because Anna Sui's Fall/Winter 09 collection was particularly eye-grabbing. In an attempt to recreate the rich tribal Russian ethnic vibe of the collection, Tongue in Chic decided to get our funk on and thus, we bring you this week's 'Playing Stylist' inspired by Anna-Sui.

Claudia and Melly Ling were rounded up to be our models of the day. To achieve the naturally flawless look seen on the Anna Sui runway show, the girls had their make up professionally done at the Anna Sui counter at KLCC. We also enlisted the help of stylist Calvin Cheong, who co-owns new boutique The Styliste to recreate the Anna Sui F/W 09 look. The result is edginess with a humble slice of femininity - very much what Anna Sui is all about!

I'm not sure I like this edition of 'Playing Stylist'. Why are you calling it Anna Sui-inspired when clearly it's a sales catalogue for AvantGOD?

hello! to be clear, we were trying to go with Anna Sui's FW 09 look, which veers towards tribal mod. So we enlisted Calvin Cheong to lend us his shop's clothes and help us style it. We weren't trying to promote avantGOD in particular, or lots of different brands at once as how we typically do. This is just a different approach to it :)

Well, when most of the descriptions say "Everything is from AvantGOD", you can't blame people for thinking that. Perhaps the title of the post should be 'AvantGOD as inspired by Anna Sui'? That would have clarified things a little better.

ooo! icic. i don't know why, but i seem to enjoy watching people play stylist with their already-existent wardrobe more! the clothes are nice tho :)

Well, not everyone can carry off every style

...although, sorry...the only thing that reminds me of Anna Sui was the purple couch..
