New Estée Lauder Sensuous Perfume
Created in 1946 by a young Estée Lauder and her husband, Joseph Lauder, in New York City, Estee Lauder started out with a very modest skin care catalog consisting of all purpose cream, crème pack, cleansing oil and lotion. Over the years, they have expanded to include cosmetics, hair care and perfume products in their repertoire, including Clinique - the first dermatologist-guided, allergy-tested skin care.

The latest in their line of perfume delights is Sensuous. Featuring a heady mix of wood smells and florals, Sensuous invokes a warm, inviting sensual feel that lingers and leaves an imprint onto your subconscious.

Woods have always been thought of as a masculine smell (sandalwood, anyone?) but there is no denying the sleek, sophisticated and modern connotations attached to the smell. So in order to harness it for a feminine fragrance, the company used a Melted Woods Nature Print to combine glowing Amber and Molten Woods.

To offset the rich woods base of the perfume, Atmospheric Florals, which consist of Ghost Lily, Sheer Jasmine, Magnolia and Ylang essences were included in the ingredients. The combination of these elements is rather subliminal so it makes one feel as if they’re walking through a forest filled with lush greenery and fragrant flora.

After a long day of wear, what lingers are whiffs of Black Pepper, Sandalwood, Honey and Mandarin Pulp. The result is a warm, intimate layered smell that would be a unique signature for any feminine confident women.

The perfume features four classic Estee Lauder faces whom you might recognise from previous campaigns - supermodels Hilary Rhoda, Carolyn Murphy and actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Elizabeth Hurley - with the tagline “Every Woman Wears It Her Way”. Covering a range of different age groups, these four women were selected because they each embody a different side of sensuality.

As Aerin Lauder, Senior Vice President and Creative Director of Estee Lauder tells it, “Hilary conveys youth, while Carolyn’s classic look communicates elegance. As an actress, Gwyneth brings an emotional range to sensuality, and Elizabeth portrays confidence and wisdom.”

Personally, I am not a big fan of the overpowering fruity floral fragrances that have dominated the market for the past years (Gucci, Flora, this means you) so this comforting yet distinctive smell makes for a very nice change.
Joyce and Claudia however, prefer scents that are more floral so this may not be their ideal choice. It really depends what you like! I suggest you get a sample whiff when you see it in the stores when you're out. :)

Sensuous is available in 50 ml (RM210) and 100 ml (RM310) bottles at all Estee Lauder counters nationwide from August 2009.
The Sensuous collection also consists of:
Satin Body Lotion (200 ml)
Silk Shower Crème (200 ml)
Touch-On Fragrance (10 ml)
Brush-On Perfumed Pressed Powder (21G).
(Please note that the latter two of the collection is exclusive to Isetan)
