FashBlog Focus: KL Streetstyle
It's pretty incredible to see trends evolve, especially online because it keeps us on our toes! Here's a new street style blog in town that features individual shots of fashionistas in KL - KL Streetstyle. We talk to Tati and Jiar, the duo behind the blog.

Who's behind KL Streetstyle?
Good friends Tati & Jiar. Originally, it was Tati's idea to start out the site, then Jiar jumped at the chance to help her out.
Tell us more about yourself!
Tati: I'm 18 and am a Fashion Marketing student at Raffles. I have an unhealthy obsession with glossy, high-end fashion magazines. What started out as a harmless hobby has now turned into a volatile codependant relationship! I love to scout out thrift stores and rummage sales for quality vintage items.
Jiar: I'm a 20-year-old Advertising/Marketing Communications student at IACT. I love taking pictures, making DIY stuff, reading a good book, and I love it when it rains.

How would you describe your personal style?
Tati: My style is constantly evolving and is therefore quite difficult to pin down in a short description, but right now my style is mostly about comfort. The base of my wardrobe is very simple, I love whites and grays, cotton tees and denim. I love shoes and I have what I think is bordering on a fetish for black & gold combinations.
Jiar: I don't have a distinct personal style because I'm still experimenting with what I like, but the main thing for me is definitely dressing comfortably. I also tend to dress up according to my moods. It's always a great thrill when I mix and match items in my closet to create a whole new look.

Have you had a street style blog before this?
Tati & Jiar: Nope!
Tati: This is my first attempt in creating a street style blog. It first started out as my personal compilation of inspiring outfits. But apart from KLSS, I've a personal tumblr account as well as managing Winkstick with my sister Farah. Street Fashion is one of my favorite things to look and search for, it's amazing. It's definitely a great thing to see the spectrum of different people from different places flaunt their style.
Jiar: I wouldn't have thought of starting out a street style blog on my own, so I'm glad Tati asked me to join her. I own a tumblr account myself and also work with my sister, Jiar Yi, on Trendy Confessions.

Why did you decide to create KL Streetstyle?
Tati: I like getting my style fix from real people - people on a budget, people who don't look perfect in every photo, people who are their own personal stylist. These are real people, not models styled by fashion editors, which I think is what makes it so inspirational. It is not just about the latest trends or the labels, it's an expression of your personality as well as your individual style. For one thing, our blog isn't label-conscious, we don't identify the brands worn and certainly do not mention the prices paid.
Jiar: I decided that it'll be great to join KL Streetstyle because I like going up to random strangers to take pictures of them. It's also the perfect excuse to strike up a conversation with someone that looks interesting!

Which fashion/style blogs do you follow/love?
Jiar: Not much, I follow Tati's tumblr and Diana Rikasari's.
Tati: I am pretty much hooked on fashion blogs and some of my favourites are Jane Alridge, Camile, and Rumi. I also love street blogs like The Sartorialist and Garance Dore.
How often do you plan to post up style shots?
Tati: As often as we can, and if our schedules allow us to.
Jiar: Everywhere we go nowadays, we keep an eye out for cool outfits!
