TiC Tock, New On The Block: Topshop + Miss Selfridge
Topshop is back with four new looks - Manhattan Cocktail, Horror Girls, Highland Fling and Marianne.
Highland Fling
Traditional Scottish casual clothing meets English eccentric; oversized classic tartans, and distressed kilts distressed with hoiked up hems.
Prints soften the heavy outerwear, antique roses add a feminine touch, whilst thistles continue the Scottish theme. Sturdy tan leather ankle boots with red laces and soft suede calf-high boots with leather wrap strapping are reminiscent of hiking boots. Chunky knit bobble hats and scarves are playful in lime, coral and purple or bright fair isle.
Horror Girls
A quirky take on Hammer House of Horror movie dressing, Horror Girls mixes the fragile damsel in distress with the wicked vampire.
Prints are either abstract in sinister oxblood, scarlet and forest green or they are tongue-in-cheek with haunted houses, bleeding poppies, blood dripping stripes, or motifs such as 'be afraid' and 'kiss the vampire'.
Leather slouchy bags are scattered with zips and metal rings, belts are heavy with gold and pewter pyramid studs, and shoe boots are hardened with buckles, lattice panels and conical heels.
Marianne
This eclectic collection of vintage glamour fused with grunge takes inspiration from 70s groupies. Luxurious fabrics are given an antique finish; sequins are tarnished, faux furs appear matted and chunky knits are ragged and distressed. 
Heavily sequinned dresses, harem trousers and high waist knickers are instantly made casual when paired down with oversized cardigans, whilst a slinky maxi dress in deep violet worn with a matted-looking Mongolian gilet becomes daytime wear.
This colour palette of dark metallics is interspersed with occasional splashes of bright turquoise, raspberry and yellow.
Manhattan Cocktail
Inspired by 80s power-dressing and cocktail party glamour, ‘Manhattan Cocktail’ relies on exaggerated shapes and show-stopping colours, fabrics and textures.
Silhouettes are emphasised; structured jackets are key, body con dresses in simple jersey are ignited by shoulder pads, and bandeau tops and dresses in leather are corseted and flare out at the waist.
Animal print is throughout; multicoloured leopard print appears on skirts and jersey and mock croc ankle boots emanate ‘over the top’ glamour. Gold highlights accessories with large buckles on shoes, gold leather clutch bags and wide statement belts.

Miss Selfridge is out with its Autumn/Winter 2009 Collection! Presenting a cool collection of rock chick inspired designs where embellishment and layering define the look.
Metalwork detailing features predominantly in the range with inspiration taken from apocalyptic sci-fi films sucha as Mad Max and Dune.
Luscious fabric textures and textural prints are used to create a richly decorative theme. Gunmetal, silver, bronze and burnt gold are key colours teamed with taupe, grey and black.
Statement shoulders, sequins, studded detail and body con dresses and high waisted minis form the key silhouettes of the season. Emphasis is on a voluminous top worn with patterned leggings or body con mini skirts, while layering with biker jackets and waistcoats is essential to the look to create a glamourous 'high priestess' rock feel.
