TiC Preview Screening: The Proposal

Filed In Blog by claudia | Comments: 47 | Views: 882

Between you and me, the TiC team has been lolling about, barely functioning because we've been itching to catch a chick flick the past few weeks. We need a new dose of feel-good happy-ending hope injected into our systems!

I'm hoping you feel the same way as we do, because I'd like to invite you to come watch a private preview screening of The Proposal with us!

The Proposal stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds as Margaret and Andrew respectably. Hasn't Reynolds been getting hotter with every passing day? Who's with me now? Yum! Anyhow, Margaret's a high-powered editor who faces possibilities of deportation to her native Canada, and impulsively combats the problem by announcing her engagement to her assistant, Andrew. What entails of course, is a ball of chaos!

If my storytelling skills didn't really have you itching to catch the movie, watch the trailer here while I go sulk in the corner. :)

Okay, now that I'm quite certain the trailer has done the trick, here are the details for the preview screening of The Proposal, 10 days before it's released in theatres!

Date: 20th July, Monday
Time: 9pm
Venue: TGV, 1 Utama

Our screening will host 150 of you, which means 75 TiC readers will be getting a pair of tickets each! Yay! I'm going to create suspense by putting the question in the next paragraph.

Okay, all you have to do is answer this question:

How would you like to be proposed to?

Would you like your boyfriend to take the conventional route and go through your dad first?

Would you like to be sent on a wild treasure hunt that eventually leads you to a 13 carat fist of a diamond?

Would you rather he get on all fours, rather than one knee?

Or would you prefer handling the proposal yourself because you're so much more competent than your boyfriend when it comes to the romancing?

I'll give you a tip: because Joyce and I are in dire need of other-wordly romance in our lives (hence why we're itching to watch The Proposal), tell us your dream proposal!

It could be something romantic, absolutely ridiculous, or plain simple :)

The first 75 interesting answers we get will get a pair of tickets!

Send your answer along with your full name, IC and mobile numbers to contest@tonguechic.com, with "The Proposal" as the subject.

OR

You could also comment your answer on the post below but make sure the email field is filled with a valid address so we can contact you afterward!

Closing date: 9pm 15th July 2009 (Wednesday)
Open to Malaysian residents only

So just comment, join in the fun and come watch with us!

How would you like to be proposed to?
On a holiday, with an incredible, unforgettable everlasting memory.

Would you like your boyfriend to take the conventional route and go through your dad first?
I'm a guy. I would do it out of principles regardless how their relationship with the daughter is. No blessing? I'm not asking, I'm informing.

Would you like to be sent on a wild treasure hunt that eventually leads you to a 13 carat fist of a diamond?
I wouldn't send a girl on a treasure hunt. Unless I can craft in air travel, and a story.

Would you rather he get on all fours, rather than one knee?
One knee.

Or would you prefer handling the proposal yourself because you're so much more competent than your boyfriend when it comes to the romancing?
Not an option. I do it.

I'll give you a tip: because Joyce and I are in dire need of other-wordly romance in our lives (hence why we're itching to watch The Proposal), tell us your dream proposal to make us melt with aww to ensure winning stakes! :)
3 days of build up - perfect memories, sincere emotions, and Oscar winning scriptswriting. Perhaps the proposal would be on a skyscraper on starry night, or a glass chalet overlooking the endless sea.

If I were to propose, I would definitely give her a surprise without letting her know any clues about it. Somewhere beautiful, special and memorable. Such as a birthday party at KL Tower spinning restaurant(just an example), then the ring will only appear in her favourite dish (that need to be chewed to prevent swollen or chocked ;p). Once she found out I will propose to her by kneeling down in front of everyone and ask, "Would you marry me"?

Me: We'll wait till contest closed then email ALL ticket winners :) But we are giving a lot away so chances are high!

I would like to be proposed. I'm not someone who loves surprises and be extremely romantic. But I guess once in a lifetime is not too much..

Would be really smitten if he brings me to New Zealand, at one of those tiny chapel. Just both of us, in front of God, and breath taking view outside the chapel(the water is so so blue for goodness sake), get down on one knee and purposed. It doesn't have to be meticulously planned nor does the ring needed to be expensive. It's the sparks of the moment that counts! I wished that he could purpose there and we would just get married in the church, there and then. Impulsive, yes? Any less romantic, I disagree..

p/s: i hope i'll just happen to be wearing a flowy white dress that day with flowers as headband!

I would like to be proposed under the stars. Just me and him, cuddling in a park.
I don't need expensive restaurants, I don't need expensive wine. I just want his sincerity.
He ll brush my hair, I ll look into his eyes, and then when its the right moment, he ll popped the question! And I can just imagine myself crying non-stop while nodding to his proposal.
=) Im a romantic person

Any sort of proposal by Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson will suffice - immortality in his hands will be major bonus! :)

Well, I'd like to ideally be proposed while holidaying in Italy or somewhere with loads and loads of designer bags and shoes....and in the midst of it all instead of a big fat diamond ring, he proposes with an offer to let me pick out all the bags and shoes that i want...heh =P

Much of a "I am modern woman roar" as I claim to be, I still swoon at romance. The boyfriend's not big on corny stuff, but yah, he'd have to pop the ring :p

It'd be nice if he informed/asked(!) the parents first, although not a prerequisite per se. We'd be winding down after a busy week at work, enjoying each other's company in a quiet spot overlooking the sunset after a leisurely drive. He'd then turn to me, look at me straight in the eye, and say: "[name] I love you. Will you marry me?"

He'd then slip the simple, self-designed ring out of his pocket, and at my awed acquiescence, slip it onto my finger :)

Take me to a maze/labyrinth (ground sprinkled w/ rose petals) where I have to find my way to the centre where HE is waiting for me on his knees w/ a big fat rock. :D Whhooo. That's the way!

It would be nice to have him propose to me in front of our family members. I don't need diamond rings or fancy dinners, just people who mean a lot to us to share our happiness and witness our love for each other. =)

He has to do the proposing, although the kneeling/on all fours is unnecessary. I wouldn't want to have the romantic, fancy, expensive dinner either - i think that would totally give it away (then again, i could act surprised, and i'd be happy anyway)

Anyway, he would take me somewhere for the day - the beach. We'd take a boat ride out to some beautiful island, with a small cafe - have some drinks; splash around in the water; take a walk.
Then at the end of the day, when the sun begins to set, and we're just sitting on the sand gazing at the sky. Then he'd produce a simple but beautiful ring, and pop the question.

And, yes, he should let the family know first. So that they can prepare a mini-celebration for me at home while i'm gone for the day. haha.
