NAFA Graduation Fashion Show

NAFA, also known as Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, held its annual Graduation Fashion Show at the Bencoolen campus in Singapore last Thursday. I was very surprised to see show producer Daniel Boey helping them out. With the show professionally done, and I was very impressed!

I was very excited to view the graduates' works and turned up early. It's always fun to see what new ideas fresh and young designers can come up with.

There were excited parents milling around and friends all togged up and ready to show support for their fellow classmates who were graduating!

Students from all over the region study fashion at NAFA, so we had the priviledge of viewing their pieces that may well be their first step to becoming a big fashion name!

The following designers caught my attention!

Leong Minyi went for ethereal designs and muted colours.

I was also particularly taken to Selina Lee's empire-waisted cotton tube dress. The splash of colours made it fresh and vibrant, making me want to buy it!

Check out the tutu colours!

Chang Jiayi was inspired by Disco Fever and paid homage to the disco era with shocking pink, Thai silk bustiers and deep purple palazzo pants.

Choy Tsoi Kern also reinterpreted the story of Red Riding Hood with an edgy neon orange zip hoodie with and outer lining of Thai silk.

I especially like the look below as well. Pairing her black dress (love the detailing and sleeves) with Dr. Martens gave me a few ideas as to how to wear my pink ones as well! :)

Last but not least was the sole designer out of all the graduates who chose to design menswear. Bravo! She paired her outfits with more Dr. Martens.

I also spotted favourite local model, Sheila Sim - who walked the runway for Singapore Fashion Festival 2007 and 2008! The 25-year-old is also the face of Poh Heng Jewellery, Bossini in Hong Kong, and Fila in China. She also fronted the 2008 campaign for home-grown designer Ashley Isham and turned heads during this event.

The young graduates finally heave a sigh of relief and celebrate at the end of the show! Good job guys!

Dato' Dr. Jannie Tay of Hour Glass is presented with a token gift for gracing the affair.
