Estee Lauder Model Search 2009

Filed In Blog by claudia | Comments: 12 | Views: 2927

I just got back from the Estee Lauder Model Search press event at Mid Valley to get an inside peek into the workings of this year's competition.

Let me walk you through the procedures!

Estee Lauder's looking for two women who embody their personal philosophy and are confident, modern and elegant.

There will be Estee Lauder Model Search kiosks placed nationwide.

The first thing you need to do once you get to these kiosks is qualify. To do that, you'll have to purchase a RM280 Estee Lauder Portrait Package that entitles you to:
- RM230 redemption voucher of Estee Lauder products
- A full makeover by an Estee Lauder artist
- Wardrobe styling by Eclipse
- Professional hair styling by Miko Hair Studio & Academy
- Instant A4 portrait photograph

Makeover by an Estee Lauder artist

Wardrobe styling by Eclipse

Professional hair styling by Miko Hair Studio & Academy

And an instant A4 portrait photograph

Basically, your receipt acts like a registration form.

All photographs will be submitted as entries where shortlisted finalists will compete at the Talent Search Finals. The winners of the Model Search will score prizes worth RM35,000 each to take home, plus an all-expense paid photography shoot and spa treatment at Tanjong Jaya Resort, Terengganu.

If age is something holding you back, don't fret - the competition covers two categories:
Category A - girls below the age of 29
Category B - women aged 30 and above

All you really have to do is hope your single photograph is a winning ticket!

Aside from walking us guests through the competition outline, emcee for the day, Daphne Iking, also announced the panel of judges for this year's Model Search: Katrina Liew (brand general manager for Estee Lauder Malaysia), Andrew Tan (of Andrew's Models), Amber Chia, Lynn Lim, Sonny San (of Eclipse), and Miko (of Miko Hair Studio & Academy).

While the panel sounds pretty intimidating, this means that all contestants will have the opportunity to experience and be mentored by some of the best in the industry.

That aside, here are some of the guests I spotted at the event:

Actress Chelsia Ng

Host Azura Zainal

TV Host Xandra Ooi

Daphne Iking

Actress Chermaine Poo

Host Jojo Struys

And just so you know what you'll most probably be up against, these are two of last year's winners. When asked for advice to give this year's contestants, they replied, "You need to really want it to get it." :)

If you think you've got what it takes, the first way to go is towards the Estee Lauder Model Search kiosks. They'll be at:

Mid Valley Megamall Centre Court: 4th May to 10th May
The Spring, Kuching: 21st May to 24th May
Jusco, Queensbay Mall: 28th May to 31st May
Parkson Mahkota Parade Melaka: 4th June to 7th June
Parkson 1 Utama Oval Court: 10th June to 14th June
Metrojaya Plaza Pelangi Johor Bahru: 25th June to 28th June
Suria KLCC Concourse: 7th July to 11th July

Tel number for Metrojaya Mid Valley event: 03 2284 8422.

Hi girls, don't be deterred by height - Eva from ANTM was the shortest contestant by far, and she's a winner. I think what the judges will be looking for mostly will be personality. Try it out! :)

Dear ladies, height is not part of our judging criteria. Do check out www.esteelaudermodelsearch.com.my Judging Criteria section for more information. Thanks

How about short hair? Like Annie Lennox style? Cuz I see all the finalists for the past years with super shiny long hair :P

hi there. hair style doesn't really matter.. it's a model search not a beauty pageant :) the more edge you've got, the better chances you've got on making it to the finals.. but like what one of the judges' said you have to have a nice skin. so take good care of your skin.. goodluck!
