Jakarta: Triski Nuraini

There ain't no party like a Jakarta party. In a bizarre twist of fate, the most populous Muslim country in the world is also host to the best and most interesting nights out within the South East Asian region.

Triski Nuraini is Indonesia's answer to Mark Hunter aka Cobrasnake. Aside from doing graphic designing duties and contributing for The Jakarta post, she also takes party photography for various publications as well as her own blog, I Love Glam. Judging by her credentials alone, who else would be more qualified to let us know about the best places to let loose in good old J-Town?

"The band and party scene in Jakarta started around 2003 at BB's where a lot of indie bands used to play and hang out. Then it was transferred to Parc. There were two great nights called Monday Mayhem and Thursday Riot. The tunes was indie music-centric. I used to take photos there religiously, and those bars were the breeding ground of many big bands today," she explains.

"But at the present moment there are so many great nights organized by the locals. There is Blackout, that plays everything from classics to indie and dubstep. Even Mike and Craig from (American band) VHS or Beta paid a visit. People go a bit mad with the fashion there, so it makes for great photos."

And great photos indeed. Judging by Triski's mad snaps, Jakarta party people have a keen sense of colour. The words 'vibrant' and 'loud' come to mind when one is trying to describe true Jakarta style, which is big on clunky necklaces, both ethnic & modern prints, and boisterous streetwear. As far as adventures go, Indonesians have journeyed far and wide decked out in the most kaleidoscopic attire.

But the party does not end there. "Another fun night is Uber Damage. I think the British equivalent to this party is Boombox, because everyone is quite outrageous. Expect electro and anything you can seriously dance to. Or if you like Drum & Bass, definitely hit Crime Scene. All these nights are usually located in  the heart of Jakarta city."
